There are differences between PFX and FX3 Classic Arcade though and my preference varies, generally in favour of PFX but not always.
i swear i know how to play the game, this new version is complete junk
ranked 218 on fX3

good luck getting the quickcast bonus on this new version, gotta dead bounce over to the right flip then backhand it into the signup box without a cradle
the IRL machine worked just like the solo on FX3, you could catch and cradle the ball in the left flipper off the cast everytime
Can't confirm. Single Player FX3, with powerups, does not use the new physics, and is set up outrageously easy.
you mean the machine that was setup in the pizza place i used to work at and played every day for years... and used to catch/cradle the cast in the left flipper reliably every time i pushed the cast button...
no i didn't have my sony handycam on me at the time sorry
So, do irl machines have some kind of indicator to know that the table is properly level?
Edit: the tilt thingy I guess huh, lol
Edit: for comparison, here's where some launches on the most annoying Fish Tales I've ever played went. Barely on the left flipper tip, requiring a great timed flip to keep in play. Barely on the right flipper tip, same. Straight down the middle. Slapping the left side of the cabinet hard with the ball coming down the orbit was the only way to get a semi decent launch. Or sometimes stopped in the pops, where it would often dump the ball on exit directly into the right outlane. I was soooo glad to see that possessed thing get sold off.
i'm saying the way that game played you could always catch the ball in the left flip after the cast and still have enough time to try for the fast cast. but based on the replies below apparently that was an unusual machine. i must have played that damn game 500 times if i played it once and i got really good at making that multiball happen... was super happy to see it duplicated in FX3 but i guess i was the only one. lol.
fiar enough, as i read these comments it's clear this isn't typical... but i probably spent more time playing pinball at that place than working, and fishtales was my go-to, so i absolutely remember the strat working.
yeah the floor seemed level, the tilt wasn't too aggressive, i just sat there all day shooting for multiball... abused the S out of that machine. lol.
i appreciate your feedback on the multiple IRL tables and i do understand that each table is slightly (sometimes majorly) different from each other... i just found it crazy to go from matching my exact experience (the catch+cradle in the left flip after cast) on FX3 to not a single version allowing that strat to work on FX.
kinda pisses you off when your whole methodology of playing a game gets ruined.
but i do get it, if it's not something most games did then it's not something i should have expected.
essentially the machine i played on worked like this... cast goes up and around the loop, ball comes down and hits the left (held) flipper and bounces back up and slightly to the left, rides the face of the slingshot down (without popping), and comes back down into the left cradle.
sometimes it would catch the bottom corner of the slingshot on the way back from the bounce and make it to cradle faster... but i almost always caught it in the left after launch and could go for the fast cast lock.
as a kid i spent so much of the money i earned making pizzas on that game and a few others i was excited to see it when i found FX3. we had a bunch of cool tables, capcoms pinball magic still my all time fav, but we had rollergames for a while, a taxi, an f14, dr dude, and a whirlwind... the boss was a huge pinball dork like me, it was a really cool place to work.
thanks again all for the feedback, i guess i'll stick to the FX3 version for now.
thanks for that, i've used that before but forgot about it, i'll check it out.
the only pinball magic i know of that is still around is at this place and it's only open to the public one weekend out of the year.
