The horror game tycoon- Softstar Entertainment Inc. has announced that the game adaption of the original horror movie “Incantation” has been launched globally on Steam today (November,18), together with the release of the “Surrounded by Curse” trailer, leading players to unveil the mystery of Chen’s Village. “Incantation” is created by teams specialized in the creation of horror titles, putting their priorities on storytelling and ambiance building, to give the players the most realistic and immersive experience. Softstar, again, is going to push “Taiwanese horror” to the world, the game has the support of four languages, including Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. The price tag is 16.99 USD, with a first-week discount of 10% off.

The game has an independent storyline extended from the Chen’s Village in the movie. With the iconic immersive first-person view gameplay, players will play as the mother who’s looking for her missing child and accidentally stumbled into a remote mountain village devoted to a mysterious religion, breaking the weird vibe surrounding the village for decades. What kind of consequences will be triggered if an unbeliever violates the taboo of the Buddha-Mother?

“Incantation” has inherited the elements from the original movie, a mixture of local culture and religions. Players will see a lot of aged buildings and objects in the game, with a combination of the collective items gathered during the adventure, the ambiance that appeared in the movie, and a well-knit and addictive story, players will be guided step by step while digging the dark side of human nature and understand the concept that Incantation is trying to deliver. Regarding character creation, the development team also designed ingenious interaction to allow players to understand the characteristics of each character, the feel of how different a human can be after getting through a series of events also provides a terrifying vibe.

The development team addressed that to continue the style of the original movie, the team paid attention to all the details from narrative design to BGM creation, to remain truthful to the creepy vibe in the film “Incantation”, they can’t help but have to discard some narrative designs. The team also mentioned some movie easter eggs were hidden in some of the chapters, players who’ve watched the movie can try finding them, it’s a guarantee of surprises and scares.

“Incantation” goes live today globally, as an adaption of the well-known horror movie, the independent story was extended from Chen’s Village in the movie, a game title that shows the storytelling skills of Softstar. The game starts with the first-person view, through exploration and item gathering, players start to dig out the good and evil buried deeply behind the villagers of Chen’s Village. Combining the artworks and music, the world concept and realistic scenes in the movie are truthfully reproduced, leading the players to walk deeper into Chen’s Village. Developed by Softstar Entertainment Inc., the horror game adaptation of the classic horror movie “Incantation” has released the official Steam Next Fest announcement trailer and the demo on Steam today. Players can now take a peek at the Chen village surrounded by a treacherous vibe.

“Incantation” is a horror game adaptation of the classic Taiwan horror movie which shares the same name. The extended independent story of the game is based on the background of the well-known Chen village in the movie, describing a mother who’s looking for her missing child, and accidentally stumbled into a remote mountain village devoted to a mysterious religion. Following her trespassing, the unknown secrets of that mysterious village have been gradually unveiled. Players will play as the mother and explore the uncanny village in first person while a strange force is closing in step by step.

The story of the trailer begins with a strange car accident, players will start the mission in first person, intruding on the gloomy Chen village in panic and facing all kinds of paranormal activities, including a village without any villagers, unspeakable rituals, and a late-night cemetery without an exit. The weird background music plus realistic ambiance will lead players during exploration and discover the truth behind the mysterious religion.
