How quick is mining of gems?

I wasn't able to get to the point where I can do it yet. So I am wondering, how long does it take?

it's one of those things that flutuates depending how much population you put in, and i'm guessing at later stages there will be other factors, maybe even now that i havent discovered yet.

Cool. So, how exactly it works anyways? Are there some gems scattered around map that you can mine? Are they finite? What if you run out of them?

This game looks like everything I've ever wanted, but I am afraid we are not exactly hearing everything from the developer. The main utilization of gems is during multiplayer, one game mode requires you to mine more than your opponent in order to succeed, which I admit sounds like a fun mode if only the current MP AI was not terrible.

There are ressources on the map. Someone in the forum said that it's not infinite but it respawns after a fight and after restarting the game. I don't know if thats true.

I have confirmed that the gems do get mined out. But that if you restart they come back.

They also mine pretty quick with a few dozen miners picking away at them. I got 100 or so in just a few minutes.

One thing I recomend though is to not spend any gems until you actually do unlock mining. Because you might not get enough resources from chests to unlock it. In which case you will need to buy them with gems. And if you've spent your gems already then you're kind of out of luck.

Looking like I am kind out of luck then, haha. I bought a settlement, I got just 50 left.
