Startup Crash Workaround

For anyone experiencing a crash at startup, here's a potential workaround for you to try until we get a fix for this pushed out in our next update (version 2.0.5). A big thanks to community member Phoenix for helping us identify this workaround.



STEP 1: Backup Your Save Files

• Go to the folder that your save files are located in. On Windows you can find this at ".../Program Files (x86)/Steam/SteamApps/Common/Godus/Windows/" or on Mac you can find this at ".../Users/(username)/Library/Application Support/godus/".
  
• Copy/paste over any files in the folder that starts with "prf" to a safe location on your computer

STEP 2: Replace Your Existing Saves

• Delete everything in the prf folder except the following files:
  • loaded
    
  • loaded_homeworld
    
  • loaded_profile
    
  • profile.bin
    
  • state.back
• The above files should now be all that you currently have in your "prf" folder
  
• Rename "state.back" to "state.bin"

STEP 3: Restart GODUS

• Launch GODUS and it will hopefully work for you now
  
• Keep in mind you can always go back to your backed up saves by putting them back into the "prf" folder

Alt Process:

Go to your Godus folder > Windows > gameconfig.txt

Change "HighQualityMode=(Number here)" back to HighQualityMode=1

Does anyone else still have the s3e_simulator_debug crash on startup without being able to play the game at all? (ie, no prf folder, or state.bin file). There were others with this issue late last year, but now support is telling me I'm the only one. If you do have that still, please log a new ticket to get this escalated.

Not working for me: I have no prf folder (cleaned the folder some time ago with a full reinstall) and can't start the game (ticket 4232)

it's not working for me either - the last dirty shutdown via task manager seems to have killed both my save game and the backups too

i had a much older backed up save folder which works if i substitute that, but in the game files that got corrupted i'd already unlocked all expansion shrines and built all three temples, and i'm not going to do all that again. i'm going to sit on the sidelines until the next major update

Well I've done this and it worked. However I can't see the sign of the underground boxes that contains cards. a big problem.

I do this several times and it worked, but now I have other issue I guess...

I destroyed building - game crashed. Now I can start game, building again is on begining of destruction proces, and when it end, game crash again. So i can start game for few seconds...

Same for me, game crash at the end of building destruction process. So when i reload, it crash again after few seconds.

I installed Godus today, and the folder /application support/godus is empty... Do anyone have a solution ?
