This game literally sent me to the hospital
Approximately 2 and a half weeks ago, when 2.0 game out, I gave this game another try. The extreme pain in my arm from playing this game for a mere hour or so sent me to the hospital. I had injured the tendons attached to my fingers because of all the clicking and particularly, the holding the button and moving the mouse repeatedly. The motion causes the wrist to apply pressure on the tendons in your fingers, which run all the way down your arm, causing massive inflammation and pain. I had to go to the emergency room and had to take 600mg Naproxen Sodium and even with that the pain persisted for a day and a half. I'm not the only one who's been injured by this game according to some of the reviews, so I encourage others who are reading this and perhaps decided to let it slide or didn't think to post about it to speak up. Kindly regale us with the stories of the pain running up and down your forearm because of how badly it inflamed your tendons and the ulnar nerve running up from your elbow.

Mind you, I play Starcraft 2 with no problem, a game that is definitively mousing intensive. I have had zero issues from playing that game before or since. It's not me, it's your game. Simply put, it doesn't require the "dragging" that you seem to think is so great. It's not. It's harmful, dangerous and I'm honestly considering filing a small claims suit for my medical costs if my insurance doesn't cover the whole thing and I might file anyway for the pain I went through, depends on how much trouble it is for me to file, how much it costs me to NOT file. Either way it can't be more trouble than trying to play this game.

No, I'm not trolling. No, I'm not joking. I want at least an apology for not considering the harmful physical effects of your "game play feature" and frankly, I think you at least owe me a refund, as your product should be recalled, alpha or not. This is absolutely unacceptable. You hurt me. Physically hurt me. It's like you punched me in the nose or otherwise physically assaulted me. I'm not even sure why I'm even posting this here, perhaps in hopes of a response of some sort, some manner of vindication or perhaps just to warn others, but it needs to be made clear that this thing you've made, if you can even call it a game, is not safe. It's design literally goads you into injury. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Sorry your wrist and arm hurt. Have you considered buying an ergonomical mouse? They're specifically designed to help with problems such as this. For example, I have a Logitech M570 Trackball mouse and it has greatly helped ease the pain which I experience as a result of having arthritis in my fingers and a weak wrist. Also, other than going to the ER to get painkillers, have you actually seen a doctor about the pain you are experiencing?

In any event, the forums really aren't the best place to post topics such as this because it might take awhile before the correct department personnel at 22Cans sees this. The best thing by far to do is to email support directly at Support@22cans.com. Doing so will help to ensure that your concerns are forwarded to the correct people a lot faster than posting here will.

I second that.

The Logitech M570 Trackball mouse is a perfect device to prevent stuff like that (I worked in the hardware industry, I know my hardware!).

It sucks dude and I hope it wont affect you again because these are injuries that do tend to return, be safe and buy a good mouse/trackball!

I only visited with a doctor at the ER for a short period. I was told literally to never play the game again as the concept, as he put it, "is incredibly bad for your tendons". He then gave me a prescription for the pain killers and a steroid to prevent swelling/inflammation. The pain went away after couple days of pills and hasn't come back since, because, simply put, I refuse to play this game ever again. Yes, I do have an ergonomic mouse by the way. It works wonders for preventing these issues with every game except this one.

Thank you however for your advice on the subject as far as contacting 22cans. I'll certainly send them an e-mail. I'll post any updates as to how they respond in this thread.

steam dont give any refund
I don't want a refund from Steam. Steam didn't send me to the hospital. 22cans sent me to the hospital.
If you play this game until it hurts badly enough to go to the hospital, then I guess 22Cans has done something right. I don't have the game yet, waiting for other things to come out, but I do have to say this clicking complaining is ridiculous.

Play any MOBA and I guarantee you there's a lot more clicking going on, certainly no less. Nobody in League of Legends complains about ripped tendons and sore fingers.

doesnt matter you have a steam game and steam dont provide any refund 22cans can give you back your money but then still the game is in your steam libary and deleting from there can only steam so you will not get any refund

....I'm not sure I understood what you wrote. You don't write very well. Anyway, all in all, just to be clear, I'm not expecting a refund. It would be nice a nice gesture from the company, but it's honestly not relevant. It's so not the point of this thread that it's moot.

The point of this thread is this game hurts people in a literal, physical way and that's really messed up. Way more important than measley 19.99 + maybe 25 bucks of prescription/deductible costs (pretty sure my insurance will cover everything else) is the fact that someone managed to invent a freaking piece of software that does people bodily harm. NOT cool.
Yeah, I was clicking and suddenly my mouse blew up from overheating and my hand was gone.. 22cans!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (In all seriousness though, I hope you are alright now.)
Really really sorry to hear the news, and I hope you get well soon. Never nice.

However, IMHO you won't have a hope of suing (depending upon what country you live in). You clearly play lots of games/use your computer a lot and things like ripped tendons will be an accumulation of physical activity over a prolonged period of time. It will also be argued that you must have been experiencing discomfort in the lead up (pain, in part, is a message from your body to stop whatever it is you are doing) and yet chose to continue. They will also argue that there would be issues of your workstation design, your personal posture, not taking breaks as advised in the T&Cs etc. etc.

And then on top of that, what other physicla activities you do. It will be very difficult for you to prove that Godus alone caused the injury.

I don't think sarcasm is welcome in a serious thread as this.

Hope you're ok now and that you get your message to the 22cans team.

Oh, grow up. Not trolling? WTF? Of course you are.

Look, we all get injuries from common things every day. Three times in the past year I've woken up with a swollen achilles tendon. Do I blame the bed manufacturer? No. Sometimes when I ride my bike a lot my butt hurts, is that the fault of the bicycle manufacturer? No, it's my fault for pushing myself.

If you're playing the game so much that you are injuring yourself, you should learn to take a break once in a while. And maybe this game simply doesn't suit you. Perhaps the tendons in your arm and hand are susceptible to this sort of injury, and your countless hours of game playing pushed you over the edge. Maybe the real damage was done with all your Starcraft playing, but the injury was lurking just below the surface waiting to be triggered by the next game you play. Is 22cans to blame for creating a game you apparently love so much that you play it until your arm hurts?

Life's not fair. Sometimes we get hurt for doing seemingly ordinary things. Get over it. You apparently play so many games, so often, that you've weakened your tendons. Take a break from gaming, instead of demanding an apology and a refund.

22cans should not be blamed for your lack of self-restraint.

And this...

These kind of injuries are serious, but its not 22cans fault - and often they are a result of a longer period of overexposure and stress on the specific bodyparts.

There is a reason why desks and deskchairs are adjusted to a certain height, why specific hardware is made to reduce strain on the wrist and tendons and why you are recommended to take regular breaks and exercise your wrist using various techniques if you use the computer for long stretches of time.

22cans did not hurt you. You hurt yourself, likely because you're sitting behind the computer all day slouched or in any other "bad" position and you do not take any breaks or whatnot.

RSI <= repetative strain injury, not "sudden strain injury"
  • Repetitive strain injury (RSI) and cumulative trauma disorders are umbrella terms used to refer to several discrete conditions that can be associated with repetitive tasks, forceful exertions, vibrations, mechanical compression, or sustained/awkward positions.
Strain injuries in your hands are common for people who play excessive amounts of games (it's a serious problem for a lot of professional SC2 players). You say in your original post that you play SC2 and that you don't have any problems - the likelyhood is it that if you do play SC2 a lot it'll be the cause of the problems. The effect of your RSI or associated joint issue might well have manifested during playing Godus as it is (or at least was) very click intensive, but it won't have been the only cause.

Your problem might have gone away for now, but it could easily come back at a later date. I would suggest looking up exercises to help your joints and also cutting back on games like SC2, Minecraft, LoL, DotA that are very click intensive.
The sooner you learn not to blame others for your own problems the world will be a better place.

What a load of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
