Puzzles ruin the game
This game is all about the story.
The puzzles in act 2 are stupidly hard and unintuitive. They break the flow of the game and cause major frustration.
Anyone else agree?
I'm about to use a walkthrough to cheat

Very agreed. This isn't a 'hard' puzzle game, it's damn 'moon logic'. No connections make any sense, individually or collectively, and you end up stuck trying things completely at random hoping SOMETHING works.

This is why the adventure genre crashed in the late 90s, too much damn moon logic.

Nevermind that, it was the last puzzle and I'm finished now.
Dissapointing.
Broken age act 2: electric boogaloo.

The characters and animations are amazing though

On my desk right now i have a couple pages of hexi pal wiring diagrams I've pencilled out.
After act 1 I was hoping to let my young one loose on this with her tablet to learn some creative magic. I somehow don't think so now

Is it moon logic when I solve the puzzles not by accident, but by figuring out what it takes to solve them, and finding the path to the solution very sensible? I think not. I think the puzzles are awesome and the process of solving them is the best thing about Act 2. The story is kinda a disppointment, but thankfully the game excels in this other way, I feel.

Are you watching a movie or playing a game? Act 2 finally becomes what it had to be since the beginning: an adventure game, and I was glad for it. It's harder but not that hard, never had to look for a walkthrough, and all riddles are very logical. Act 1 was so dumb I could have watched the tv instead.

It's not logical that shay has know stuff that vella is doing and vice versa.
For us common plebs, act 1 was about pointing and clicking and meeting characters and unravelling the story, marvelling at the creative genius.
Act 2 I wanted the answers to act 1, what I got instead was frustration and finally...disapointment.
I hope this post doesnt put anyone off buying the game., it's still worth it.
I guess I'm just overall unhappy with the way act 2 played out.

Mostly agree. The puzzles are just stupid. Not hard, just stupid. No real logic behind most of them. Click this thing and see what it doenst do then click this thing and see if something else could maybe happen.
Wiring puzzles was all about connect one wire, put the hexathingy in the "charger" and see what lights up, rince and repeat.

Story.. OMG did they fack you over with that. All buildt up in Act1 just thrown out the window and hey look at this, better do a stupid puzzle and run back and forth through several screens dosens of times. Its after all "long game you see".

And why did they change Vela into a bloodthirsty "letsbloweverythingupbecausenoreasonwhatsoever" butthurt teen? jees.
Not to mention story f*ckusp with Shays parents, especially Mom.

Agree with the OP. I enjoyed Act 1 but frustrating puzzles in Act 2 kind of ruined it for me as well.

The puzzles were far from monotonous, I appreciated the variety. And since I could follow the logic I disagree that the puzzles had none. Honestly, what kind of adventure games have you played to complain about the puzzles? Everything is relative after all, so I wonder about your frames of reference. :P

Dude, I've played the origional Discworld.

And the feeling I got from Act 2 was pure Discworld.

The puzzles are fine. Didn't have an issue with them at all. Mind you I am used to playing puzzle type games.

The people who call the puzzles "stupid" or "dumb" are the ones that aren't intelligent enough to look at the clues given to them through the objects and/or people around the characters.

I thought the puzzles were very clever. The solutions always made perfect sense, and there were more than enough hints to guide you.

Don't get so angry when you're stuck, it's not healthy. Take a break, or switch characters, revisit some places/people, see if your spoon has any ideas, ... and yes, take notes.

And we enter the 'personal attacks on any dissent' portion of the discussion. So predictable.

You are playing a point and click adventure game and you complain about puzzles? Logic.

The biggest problem with the puzzles was how spaced out they were. To solve X you had to do Y at the other side of the map and to figure that out you had to walk forward and backward through the map a lot. Good puzzle design to me is something where they lay out all the pieces in front of you and then you have to figure out how they go together. This felt often more like hiding the puzzle pieces under the carpet. There was also far to many puzzles that where based on timing or setup, that kind of stuff is just annoying. It also didn't help that it was often not clear what you are supposed to do or in what order. They could have communicated a lot of that a lot better and a proper "Look" action really would have helped here.

Wasn't the worst puzzle design ever, but it certainly could get rather frustrating. Would have preferred some good old inventory based puzzles instead of all this environment and setup based stuff.
