Act 2 Star Weaving
So I'm at the puzzle where you need to have Vella chart a course. I understand that there's a correlation between re-hooking the weave (like you did with Shay in Act 1) and the music over in Shay's side.

Except, I have no idea what it means. I tried using the plots on the music sheet that's on the wall behind the pilot. Or that it has something to do with the song you can have him play? I've looked up guides and none of them are helpful. I'm not remotely musically inclined, so I have no idea what the high note, mid note stuff means.

Any help at all? Because I'm incredibly confused. There are a LOT of these very unintuitive puzzles in this half of the game. I get that Schaefer was trying to make the puzzles harder this time around, but there's a difference between a difficult puzzle and a completely unintuitive one.

If you just want help finding the solution, it's kind of convoluted but it does have to do with Alex playing that song. If you want to skip that because honestly, it's pretty ridiculous, you have to put points in at the second spot to the left on the top level and at the second spot to the left on the middle level, and don't put any points in on the bottom level.

Yeah, I found a walkthrough video that did exactly that (they managed to do it after several tries themselves and also needed assistance from Twitch viewers at the time). Still no idea how anyone figured out the puzzle.

The hint is that near Alex, there is a music sheet tacked to the wall. Examining it, Shay comments the music sheet is really similar to a Star Map. The connection you should make is that Alex tells you everything on his ship was music themed, so wouldn't their Star Maps be the same?

Very tricky, and takes quite the mental leap to connect the two. But still fair, all the pieces were there for us to connect (this one took me quite a while to finish too, definitely one of the harder puzzles).

Problem is the puzzle makes no sense from Vella's PoV, unless there's a point where she sees that in Alex's ship and I just don't remember.

Same deal with wiring the hexadudes later in the game, unless the story reason for it is that they just guess until something works.

I'm stuck at trying to modify the map. she keeps saying it's just blank knitting even after hearing shay's clue

Those poor maidens are probably starving.

The game keeps telling you there is a strong connection between Shay and Vella. It also happens that when you answer right, they just keep telling you "Somehow I got the feeling this is right!". Telepathy maybe? Riding the same mental wavelengths? Nahh, just the way this game works.

I played as Vella until I got to the point where you have to switch but I didn't see any of the game telling me about the connection. Did I just miss it or not read into something? Are there examples in Vella's story?

This is one of the things that I don't think the game ever directly answers. But I felt like the game implies that "You" are the bridge between Vella and Shay. So anything "You" know, Shay and Vella feel. (This tripped me up, because I kept separating Vella and Shay's viewpoint, almost like I was role-playing as Vella or Shay and refusing to act on information they shouldn't have access to).

Thematically the ending pretty much hammers it home that Vella and Shay are drawn to each other by some sort of unknown bond too. Most of the conversations involving Marakai imply that Shay just knows things regarding picking the maiden. Can't think of any specific examples that made me come to that conclusion though.

I found this to be one of the easier puzzles in the game. You give Alex the flute and he just plays the solution for you. I was stuck for a day on some of the other puzzles, but this one just seemed natural to me. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

One that comes to mind is although the creatures Shay was saving were always referred to as such by Marek, without any reference to their gender, when Shay grabs the Vella creature he says "got her!", somehow he was able to sense that she was a she.

I guess the problem for me is that I hadn't seen Shay's side yet and had no idea switching was necessary because I never did it in the first game.
