Bored to the death by the first 20 minutes.
I´m a backer. I think the art in this game is great, as is the soundtrack, menus and the rest of the presentation (though the voice acting should be better).

But why is it so damn boring, at least for the first 20 minutes? I LOVED To The Moon, Gone Home, Kentucky Route Zero, Walking Dead, as well as the old ones back in the day (Full Throttle, The Dig, DoTT). I like this kind of game, but I´m afraid Broken Age´s dialogues and gameplay didn´t hit me at all.

Does the story and the dialogues get better afterwards?

I've only played 2.5 hours so far, but Vella's story gets a lot more interesting after around 30 minutes, imo. But I did think that Gone Home was incredibly boring and haven't even finished it yet, so our idea of interesting may be different (I love TWD, Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Sam & Max though).

I see you grew up with the same adventure games as me, those where all great games back in the day (and still are).

The first 20 minutes wheren't boring to me, but it does get better after the first stages when the twist comes in. I havn't finished it yet, but I have passed the Shay part (now onto Vella) but I think it is an pretty interesting game with, like you said, great art work.

So yeah I say stick with it and play it a bit more. Hopefully you find it more enjoyable.

It really doesn't feel like there is a lot of depth at the start because you know nothing about the characters, so it takes a while to get into it. Doesn't help that the beginning puzzles are stupid easy. I'd say this game is definitely worth around $10-15. Not much more.
Of course, we don't actually know *which* first 20 minutes you played. I started up with Vella's story, got about 45 minutes into it and hit a brick wall (later solved, a real D'OH! moment) and switched to the other story and played that to completion before going back and finishing Vella's.

I didn't find either story boring, outside the understanding that the first 20 minutes of any story don't tend to be the most exciting.

However, asking us if it gets "better" when you haven't said what specifically bored you, which story it was, or what you would have expected instead to make it less boring, is pretty impossible to answer. You should know that one player's "better" is another player's "WAAAAAH I HATED IT WAAAAAAAH", as these forums should demonstrate pretty comprehensively! ;)

Vella´s beginning is boring, but the boy´s story is specially boring. And the answers I got were exactly what I wanted. I will play the game when Act 2 gets released.

3+hours into the game and I have to say, it's indeed boring. There is no gameplay. IMO they should've made it as some kind of animated video for kids instead of a "game". But off course, going the "game way", they get much more money, because game killed the video star.

"game killed the video star" is a good one.

Wow, act 1 was a lot shorter than expected, only 4 hours. Had I known this from the start I'd wait to play it until the second act is out. Oh well, live and learn.

So the summary here is: guy had unrealistic expectations, guy got bored, guy turned to the internet to make it all better inside.

Fair enough.
