Patience... ;)
As stated on the Store page, the game is in two parts. One part is out, the other is due out hopefully soon.
Well, er, that basically makes it sound like the majority of the work has yet to be done. If the dialog hasn't even been recorded and the puzzles aren't done that's likely to be quite some time for completion. Probably not even this year.
Yeah... the writing hasn't even been finalized, and NO voice acting has been recorded? It sounds like they're still in the middle of pre-production.
This worries me tremendously -- I thought they released Act I early and were finishing up Act II, not building it nearly from scratch like it's a sequel.
If they really had zero work done on Act II when they released Act I, it's no wonder they've been so tight-lipped about it.
I wouldn't worry. It does not sound that the majority of the work has to be done. I think they make steady progress. When you see it from another point of view, then they have to create another whole part of the game where just a bit of artwork and the engine are done. And it takes some time do it. I would assume it takes a little bit less time than doing the first part. I will play Act 1 again when they release Act 2 anyway.
Worried about the developers running out of money again maybe?
1. Came out with Broken Age for OUYA May 30 (OUYA, really?)
2. Space Base version Alpha 9
3. Costume Quest 2 release
4. Hack n' Slash early access
5. Last Life kickstarter final stages
6. Escape Goat releases on ps4 etc
I think I've made my point. They obviously have this project on the back, back, baaaaaack burner.
As for updates to their kickstater page, none except one thank you to a backer and no mention of any progress whatsoever, not even a hint.
"Thanks for the money, suckers, I mean backers, we'll finish the game in a year or two or whenever we feel like it" is what it seems like they are saying to us.
You had a point? You failed to make it.
Firstly, the progress on other games is irrelevant. If you are a backer, which I'm guessing you're not, the numerous documentary episodes about the making of the game will have shown you the various teams. Progress on other games does not imply they stopped making this game while they did the other games. Therefore, posting on this forum that they stopped working on this game to do all the listed progress on other games just makes you look silly to everyone who knows how it actually works.
Secondly, Kickstarter backers get updates pretty regularly. They don't go on the Kickstarter page because after the KS closed only Backers get updates, via email.
Third, Tim sent Backers an email last week, detailing *exactly* where they are with the game. You won't have got this info, because you're not a Backer (it sounds like).
So feel free to have your opinion. It's just that your opinion is based on total nonsense beliefs and assumptions.
Don't believe everything some muppet on a forum ranted. Yes of course they have other projects, being worked on by other members of the company. They did not invest Broken Age money in other projects, and nothing he ranted at us proves that in any way. They would be idiots to do that, the money Broken Age earns goes towards finishing the game, like they said.
Finally, they haven't forgotten about Broken Age, which again you would know if you did any of your own research instead of just believeing what some bloke on the internet told you.
Yes, I am also some bloke on the internet, but I'm citing stuff that's been sent to Backers by Tim Schafer himself. What's the other guy citing? His opinion? Pffft.
