"Powerful weapon" before fighting Mog Chothra (Vella Act 1)

After being stuck and looking through walkthroughs, apparently I had to keep the holy tear gas shooter, but I gave it back to the guards with the chum in. Is there any other way to go to the fighting Mog Chothra scene? I've done everything else..

Interesting. I didn't give it to the guards, but used it on the maidens, after which Vella throws it away; later after "waking up the Dead Eye God," I'm stuck (and Shay's story is _really_ stuck, in that he's knocked out so the only choice given is to switch back to Vella.) I think it's because after using it on the maidens, and getting their perfume, I used it on Vella herself before I had a weapon ready, and now that I have one, I no longer have a way to trigger the feast.

Yeah, I used it on the maidens first but I still gave it to the guards anyhow

Oh…in that case, you should be able to take their perfume, then use it on yourself, then talk to the mayor...

In my case it turned out I misunderstood what to do with the laser. I thought having the laser itself was the weapon, but I didn't realize what I needed to do in the pyramid to get the trigger—at that point, talking to the mayor one last time is enough to start the feast.
