POSTAL
Why is this rated M and Hatred rated AO?
I mean, in this game you kill children in an elementary school for god's sake. If anything THIS should be AO and Hatred M. I mean no, im not saying postal should be AO I think M is perfect. But just saying is all... idk I HEARD somewhere that games where you get to kill children would have to be rated AO.

This is has crappy graphics that obscure the crass, and content ratings are subjective.

From what i've seen of trailers, Hatred is much more indepth into the murder, with cutscene-executions and a more fleshed-out presentation of the Killer's psyche. Meanwhile Postal 1 just lets you shoot people until they're at 0 HP, where they either die and lie limp, or lay on the ground begging for mercy and groaning. Either way you can't really interact with them.

Basically Hatred had a serious enough impression on its reviewer to warrant an AO grade, while Postal 1 only put a serious enough impression on its reviewer to get an M.

Because Postal is 20 years old and and had a native resolution of 640x480px. You might as well be comparing Wolfenstein 3D (circa 1992) with Call of Duty: World at War.

Postal also included (sparse but present) humorous themes and an unrealistic depiction of violence... in real terms.

Not to mention the fact that the ESRB didn't actually exist at the time and by the time they formed it probably would have been an embarrassment to classify such an antiquated game as AO. It would have undermined the entire meaning of an AO game because nobody really considered Postal to be that shocking anymore.

The ESRB did exist at that time. It was founded in 1994.
