My friend is appearing offline but isn't.

When i was entering with them on windpath through the clouds to the challanges map i was expelled from the group supposedly for hitting a cloud on my screen but not on theirs, anyway, some times they appear offline to me and we can only meet with help from a friend, we both have no idea why.

Restarting the game will sometimes fix friends appearing offline.

i have had this once with my son, he could see me online but i could not see him online in constellations.. while he was standing next to me. as the person above me says, a restart solved the issue.
