Now it won't start at all
When I first got this game it would start up but after a brief time she would drop down to be met by a woman who says something & then the game ends. I now have tried again & I get nothing except the company logo & then it stops completely & then goes back to my library asking me to press PLAY. Absolutely nothing happens at all. (I've never had this problem with any other games including Journey, Death Stranding etc). I have read other players concerns with similar queries so I should give u the heads-up that if u need any specs I don't know how to paste or even where to find this info simply because I've never had to do it before.(Sorry....I'm a senior who enjoys gaming but didn't use computers or it's lingo til recently so I find it a bit intimidating...I know the basics & that's it.) I don't know if this helps however my system is a ASUS ROG Strix, 64 bit, 16 Ram With Nvidia & Geforce GTX. Hope u can help as I'd luv to play this awesome looking game. Thx!!

Try update your drivers, that usually helps.

If you're not sure what to do, first goto your Steam client, look on top and click "Help", then select "System Information" in the drop down menu.
Steam > Help > System Information
and copy (press Ctrl+A, then press Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) everything here, so we may help you check what spec and OS you have there and see what may be the problem.

Also, if you are using a N or KN series Windows. You might want to install the "Media Feature Pack" that your system lacks to play cutscenes/videos in certain games.

I looked up re: Windows media package. I think I have it but says "Windows Media Players Legacy" & is checked off. Is that ok? Thx Shelley

Okay... now first thing first, the drivers update...

You have 2 GPUs on your system so you need to update them both.

1st is the Intel iGPU (I've grabbed the link for you already so you just need to download and install it)
https://downloadmirror.intel.com/764512/gfx_win_101.2115.exe

2nd is the Nvidia dGPU (Same as above, just download and install)
https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/552.44/552.44-notebook-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe

After that try copy the system information and paste it here again. There's a small problem in that list and hopefully updating the drivers will fix it.

For the media player, checked it and it should download the required media player your system lacks. This should prevent cut-scene crash in all games that require the media player to work. :winkycat:

I am going to assumed you downloaded the files but can't find them?

Try go to the web browser you used to download them, and hit "Ctrl+J", it should show up in the download history there. Click on the files to run them, but do it one by one at a time. After you finished installing the 1st driver, then start the 2nd one. The system might prompt you to restart your PC after it finished installing.

When I downloaded it did ask if I wanted to view the download history & it looked ok...but then I don't really know what Im looking for lol. Im confused...Did it not load? Do u need me to do it again? As is no problem. They didn't ask to restart but I did anyhow.

I just redid downloads & did a restart. Tried SKY but did same as before & just shuts off right away. Just realized that I should uninstall it & reinstall SKY.

Reinstalling the game won't do anything. You can just verify integrity through Steam. If the game has any redistributable files through Steam, it will re-open them upon launching the game again. though Sky is a small download so not a huge deal anyway.
Steam, ALWAYS says somewhere from 1-5 files failed to validate no matter what, that's normal. It's resetting certain files to a default state so said files open "first time".

Scratch all that, think I found your issue. Updating the intel driver wouldn't matter anyway since that log file shows you are using the PCIE/discrete Nvidia GPU. But it also shows your VRAM being 1GB, which is weird because your Nvidia GPU should have 4GB. The integrated one should be sharing memory with your system RAM, though I'm not sure how you would allocate more, if you even can.
The games' minimum VRAM requirement is 2048MB/2GB, so if the game/system is not detecting and reporting the right amount, that would be causing the game to not work.

I'd recommend opening your windows search bar, typing "dxdiag" without quotes, and hitting enter. That is specifically directx/graphics-ish information. With that open, check the display tabs for the memory related stuff.

No, no, you need to run those files in order to install the drivers, downloading is just the 1st step. Did you install the drivers?

The steps should be something like this.
Goto your browser, hit Ctrl+J and search for that 2 downloads. Click on one of them 1st and when prompted whether or not to run the file, click yes, then it's either yes/ok all the way until it starts installing (with a gauge running). After done the 1st file, restart your pc and do the same for the other file. Restart your pc again after both is done. And your drivers should be ready.

No, that's not normal. If you're constantly having a file corruption or bad install, it's either your HDD is failing and having bad sectors or your internet ping to Steam download server isn't stable.

That's the reason why she needs to update both drivers to the latest version. Outdated drivers may caused mis-detection of Vram.

Sorry but you are wrong. My PC is working fine. Steam, depending on the game and engine, always shows AT LEAST 1 failed file, sometimes more. I've seen up to 5 in various games.
The reason for this is the file that determines the game and redist files, is reset to think it's never been run before. On top of that some engines will save some configs to the game folder as well as appdata, and it will reset the configs that are in the game folder. So yes, failing to validate one or multiple files is normal. you can get a perfectly working drive, validate multiple times in a row, and get the same number. I'm not the only one saying this. some people panic cause "Steam said 3 files failed to validate on x game" and everyone else tells them it's normal. And what do you know, on that specific game it is normal.

Re-read, you said detection, not direction, my bad there.

But to be clear, this game has no redist files and will not fail to validate any. Just checked to be sure. So if THIS one says any failed, that's not normal. Usually games with an installscript.vdf file will do it, or anything that is modified on first launch.
Also sortof the same way that Steam won't delete mod files when you uninstall through the client. It checks for files that were that at initial download and unpack, and for the filenames. If new files are added and not in that list, they stay.

I'm having a terrible time trying to paste over to this discussion...I had same problem before & then it finally worked however it was a nightmare as had to erase line by line about 15 copies of system info...it took soooo long. If I keep trying again the same thing will probably happen. Anyhow I looked at my suppose browser as had Google as my default and nothing came up. Noticed that Firefox was browser that came up when downloading (have no idea how FF became browser.) I changed it to GOOGLE & repeated all downloads. It actually showed me the whole installation which FF didn't. FF listed the DL's so I don't know what happened (I hate computers!). GG showed all DL'S & I looked at System info & it does show the one but not sure what to see for the "notebook" one. Now if I could just send it to u that would be awesome....don't know why it won't paste over as am doing same directions. If I keep trying I will probably get so many copies all grouped together....AHHH!!

You don't have to keep copy and paste the system info, since you haven't even update the drivers nothing will change in that list, so we won't be needing the info until something is updated.

After you downloaded the file, run it, it will prompt you with questions but most of them are simply a yes or ok to continue to the next step, including cleaning out the old drivers, since you are installing a newer version you won't be needing the old ones. Once you're done with the 1st file, it would either asked you to restart your pc or simply finished without anything more instructions. Either way, restart your PC after the install, just to make sure nothing is left out as a standard procedure. Once you restarted, start moving on to the next file and do the same.

If you're not confident with the procedure at all, it's recommended to seek for help from your local tech stores. Tell this to the technician there: "I need to update both my iGPU and dGPU drivers, and please help me install the Media Feature Pack. Also, please check why is the Vram detected as 1gb." The technician should know what to do from there. :winkycat:

Ok... Nothing went thru? Seriously...zilch? I did think the driver versions (did u look at the Driver Versions?) did download as the #'s are the same as the one u asked me to download...Driver Version: 31.0.101.2115, DirectX Driver Version: 31.015.5244 plus Date changed from 2019 to 2022, also added OpenGL Version 4.6 & as I mentioned they asked if I wanted to clear old drivers which I clicked YES then they said INSTALLED & FINISHED, then asked to restart, which I did. (gauges showed it loading). Thx for all the work u have done. I will continue to try & hopefully get it right. I'm a pensioner so getting a technician is out of the question. Another player guessed that I may need the upgraded Vulcan 1.2 or 3. Who knows? Thx again for everything. Cheers
