The "Journey" Costume bundle is double the price of the actual game.
Like many, I joined the game due to Journey. Like many, I was happy that you can look like the Wayfarer from Journey. But why is it whole €30? Journey costs €15 on average, so why is the cosmetic pack that references, not adds, the game double the price? You could buy yourself and your friend the referenced game for that money.

What the game has and lacks:

-has: The classic cape, hood and mask
lacks: The white version of the outfit, embroideries on your robe (there is three tiers).
-The Ancestors's masks.
Any Journey player will feel "emptiness" seeing anything like that missing. The robe needs more options.

-has: the default Wayfarer voice
lacks: for each level/map in Journey, the wayfarer's chime had a different tone according to the region's music. I myself prefer certain regions in Journey because of the unique chime sound.

has: still your default character's model being visible. Arms should be always hidden
lacks: the elegance your Wayfarer had with their model. Including the thin legs.
If you looked at the behind the scene for Journey, it was mentioned that this specific part had the purpose of characters being elegant and the lack of arms to prevent people from thinking of ever hitting their companion. Again, it is a crucial design.

Before anyone comes here and says "it is a f2p game bro". F2p is still aiming to making you spend money and most importantly: We want to spend money, we want to be invested in the game but "F2P" does not mean your money is meaningless and you can just throw it at anything. A store is also "Free to enter" but that does not mean it is okay that an apple costs €100 for example.

Again, we want to spend money, but we want prices that do not exploit our love for a game and prices that are, frankly, reasonable. Obviously you are not gonna add more items and features to an already launched cosmetic pack, so just reduce the price to be not higher than the actual game of which popularity you ride on.

you just gave your self the answer its a Costume keyword your not gonna be the real journey characters

Then why is it double the price of the referencing game, this makes even less sense then.
The point was to make you feel like the Journey character and they clearly could have gotten all-out for €30.

The Journey pack isn't new but pretty old that is originally made exclusive to the Sony PlayStation version of the game 2 years ago (note, it's also more expensive than the Journey game on PS). As for the reason why is it on the PC release is unknown, probably because they think the Friendship cube isn't enough to impress the Steam players and added the Journey Pack as an add-on to the event (and wanted to make quick bucks with it). So the price is actually already fixed since its release on the PS and lowering the price here without a good reason (like the examples in my previous comment) is going to anger those who bought it on PS... thus they maintained that "exclusive" price even when it's no longer exclusive.
https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP7529-CUSA31531_00-00000000000SNC70
Especially with the regional price of Journey here on Steam which is far cheaper than Journey on PS in some countries, fixing the rate with USD on the outfit alone is going to cause uproar like these when the outfit is a few times more expensive than the game itself, unless a fanatic, else it's not something a veteran game player here on Steam would fall for. :kisscat: And honestly speaking, buying it on PS might even be cheaper than buying it on the PC due to that regional price they set.

But like what i said in my previous comment, it'd be great (better?) if they put some effort on to it for this steam release and show a little more love to their fan... at least make a new texture for the white version and make it different from the PS exclusive version would've fare better imo....

That is really not much of an argument. Sony owns the rights for the actual game too and still only charge €14 or and it was only sale for only a fifth of that price recently.

And Thatgamecompany still technically bought the rights to display and monetize the Journey Wayfarer, not just a mere costume. They could have gone all-out or they could have made it cheaper.

Whatever the reason is, half the price of a whole premium game is way too much to ask for and it is disrespectful to make use of the fans's love for the referenced game to get a higher buck from each individual. It is better if there is three people who can afford buying a thing than just a singular person.

It is TGC that decides the price of their own game, not Sony. Besides, it is always worth criticising such practises especially when they enter the PC platform.

they really dont cause they dont own the rights to journey and TGC needs to stirke deal with sony to get the costume in game TGC made journey but sony owns the rights to it meaning they cant add nothing in game about journey with out there say so and if sony wants a price for said itme they say how much will be it or no deal thats how contracts work and ownership works

I was referring to the monetisation of Sky. And all I did was make a point with the ridiculousness of keeping the price tag of €30. Obviously they cannot add anything, so they should just reduce the price.

Bureaucracy aside, it is still a high amount of money they demand from the player and that is still the main point. And they still exploit people's love for the game with that price point.

because the price of Journey, one of their older games, doesnt have any baring on the price of cosmetics inspired by the game. Sea of Thieves has tons of ship cosmetics inspired by Rare properties. they all have comparable price points depending on if its collectors or not.

"The point was to make you feel like the Journey character"

I do not agree. the point was to pay homage to Journey, and offer a cape that pays homage to it. the point wasnt to make a carbon copy of journey.

That is really not much of an argument. youre assuming to know the details of the licensing contract. Youd have a better argument if you used what you know, not what you percieve to have happened.

I have a really great answer if you feel that way: dont buy it. I personally feel the game has given me enough enjoyment to periodically buy a season pass, or a cosmetic from them. You dont agree, and what to frame your monetary support in a far more direct "at time of purchase" exchanges. Thats one was to view it, but clearly not the only way. youd do better to recognize that.

theyve demanded nothing of you, or any other player. this is an offering within a paid shop. where is the demand? have they issued a demand of any kind?

It still €30, you could buy tons of games with this money. And "homage" is still to make you feel like it, you just said the same thing but with different words.

So does the comment of wizard master, we can only guess what the contract entails, but it does not click right that Sony sells the right to use a character model and also decide the price of how much it will cost on a game they did not even publish themselves.

"Don't buy it" is such a weak response. I want to buy it and many people do. This is just a simple costume and again to my first analogy: If an apple would cost €100 sure people "don't have to buy it" but in the end they want to and they have an estimate of how much it should costs. Same here. It is always better if, say, three people can afford one skin pack than just one person affording one skin pack.

It has a reason why you bought smaller priced comsetics and the pass because you yourself find the price tag of the Journey pack not worth it. I also bought the Season Pass, my argument is not to not spent money, my argument is not to demand half the price of a AAA game or the total price if you would buy of several indie games. Input must have a balanced output.
