Sky: Children of the Light

Sky: Children of the Light

Access Denied
I'm getting the message:
Failed to start process for this game : "Access Denied." (0x5)

The game already is set as an exception through my antivirus. The message is not from Windows or my antivirus, but from Steam itself. I've verified the files multiple times and even reinstalled the game, to no avail. I'm guessing there is a new glitch that caused steam to not recognize the game correctly, but it's starting to irritate me that I can't get in for the event and new Season.

Is there any chance your antivirus has a "quarantine" function that was activated for game files before you created the exception and remains active?

The exception was already there before I began having the issue, so I doubt that is the case. It could still be malfunctioning in some way involving the antivirus though. I'd have to do more looking into that. For now I'm both looking for ideas on how to fix it, as well as I have downloaded it to another device to do Skyfest stuff.

I had the same problem but it has since fixed itself. Are you still having that problem?

I'm having the same problem.

Is it possible the anti-virus exception is just for a 3rd party software, but Windows Defender is active and doesn't have an exception?

Nope, Windows Defender has that feature too.
On Windows 10 I think I see it in "Virus & threat protection" (search the Start menu for that), "Current threats", "Allowed threats". At least that section lists them. So there's got to be a way to add items to that list too. Somewhere in the that vicinity.

Sorry, that's what I was asking OP-- if the exception was only added to a 3rd party anti-virus software but not to Windows Defender.

I see! That does seem possible, yeah.
