Journey. It doesn't overstay it's welcome, it provides a beautiful experience all the same, without all the monotonous grind and FOMO.

Journey, 100%, flawlessly incorporates the cyclical nature of gameplay loops into the very fabric of the game, easy to go from start to finish or just focus on your favorite levels, each levels feels distinct and just the right size. I enjoy Sky, but it feels like it came first and experimented with a bunch of systems that Journey then perfected, rather than Journey getting all these systems down pat and Sky messing them up. :/

I think the comparison is a bit apples to oranges... like, they share similar DNA, but Journey is a much more intimate, personal experience.

Sky has a story you can play through, and additional post-game quests, but it's more of a social game. With Sky being free, you came play through those story bits if you want to and then set it aside without getting into the social or grindy aspects of the game, and still enjoy it.

I would say play Journey first for sure, and then give Sky a try. Journey is a piece of art, but as much as I love Journey I've fallen more in love with Sky because of the interactions I've had and the people I've met.
