Sky: Children of the Light

Sky: Children of the Light

Pressing the Windows Key doesn't show the Start Menu.
When in the game, pressing the Windows Key only reveals the cursor and does not show the Start Menu. Pressing Alt + Tab and holding it shows that the Start Menu has indeed opened, but the game remains on top of everything on the screen, so the Start Menu is hidden beneath.

This also affects...

  • The Lenovo pop-ups that appear on screen when toggling Caps Lock, the microphone, or FnLock.

  • The Windows system pop-ups from adjusting the brightness and audio volume.
The game is on top of everything.

That's… odd. It sounds like something your particular system does rather than the game itself, maybe it has a game mode or something.

Something that would normally be fixed by changing graphics settings from "fullscreen" to "borderless window", but Sky doesn't even have that option and I think its fullscreen mode is already exactly that.

Try pressing alt+enter (it should put sky into windowed mode) then maximize the window by pressing the windows key to lose application focus so you can use your mouse and set the window to maximize. If nothing works this might be your only option until sky gets borderless fullscreen mode.

It's def a bit odd that the windows key doesn't cause sky to lose focus because it works on both my laptop and pc. Have you tried pressing fn+windows? Some laptops with weird custom keyboard configs can cause issues like this. Also did you happen to disable full screen optimizations for sky.exe?

I have never experienced this in any game before.

Well, playing in windowed mode and maximizing it helps, but I'm not going to play with the toolbar and taskbar visible...
I haven't messed with the game files, so no to your question.
