The glide/flight button if i remember correctly. Once you are in the water that button toggle dive/surface.
Might want to perfect it since there's one area that fully require you to dive for all the quests in that map.
thanks, but I don't know...
I have default control settings. when I press RMB/TAB in the water nothing happens, when I press SPACE the character jumps out of the water and flies
Not too sure about the new keyboard settings (they changed some of it on the live version), but it works on R2/R1 button on the controller (depending on which model). And the flap/jump button works as swim (boost?) only after you dived, if you are on the surface you will either jump out of the water or fly if long pressed. You need to toggle the dive first which should be the flight mode toggle.
There should be a button telling you which control goes where when you press it, but again, not sure about the keyboard toggle, you might want to go to keybind setting and check them out there.

So here goes.
You can Unlock the Dive ability from the small cave in The Treasure Reef area (Season of Abyss - take the boat from Golden Wasteland Social area) right in front of your starting point.
Flight/Glide toggle = Dive/Surface toggle (R1, Tab, RMB)
Click once to dive (only works if your character is "floating" in the water, will not work on shallow water), click the toggle button again to surface (your character will swim right up to the surface if you are underwater)
Once dive mode is turned on, your character will sink and swims down.
The character will swim according to your camera angle, so if you want to swim down, look down, if you want to swim up, look up.
W = Forward (Swims away from the camera)
Space = Boost forward but uses wing Energy
S = Swims toward the camera
A/D = Swims side ways
If you run out of air and wished to surface fast, toggle the surface button and the character will swim directly upward, you can use space to boost the speed here. Be aware not to use this in buildings with a ceiling or your character might be trapped there. (bug)
For deep ocean diving, you can recharge your oxygen by getting near any of the light creatures or light plants.
Make sure you take good care of your oxygen bar, if it runs out, you may lost some of your wing lights.
You can use the Oxygen Mask unlockable from the spirit tree of the Abyss Seasonal Guide (Quest Giver) for 15 seconds more Oxygen.
Additionally:
If you are already in flight mode and fly right into the water at full speed, you will start in dive mode inside the water (if it's deep enough).
Hope this helps!
There's basically 3 areas that require diving in this game.
[1] Season of Abyss - Almost the whole area is diving zone
[2] Season of Moment - Probably the 1st diving area most user encounter, it's a short dive but the camera can play tricks making it hard when going into the tunnel.
[3] Season of Nine Colored Deer - This one is for candles collecting, but the tunnel has a bad design that might make your character stuck underwater and drown, be well aware of that.
have you found the solution? I also have the same problem. My character can't dive even if I press RMB/TAB button.
The dive mode will only trigger if your character is floating in the water. It won't trigger on shallow water.
Like i said, your character needs to be floating for the dive to toggle. If you have a tall character, you might need to walk deeper into the water before you can dive.
There's 2 diving zone in SoM, try the one at the tall waterfall, that one's a bit deeper and easier to dive imo. Both leads into the same cave.
And no, it's not getting all spirits underwater... you just need to reach the one in the cavern, the other 3 isn't there and are at the place where you meet them during the quest.
Also note that, if you are looking to unlock their spirit tree for the emote, you need to 1st clear Eden once before they will show up on your screen.
Eden is basically the Ending of the main game, the last map area. After you finished Eden, then the Seasonal Spirits become visible in all areas, before that you can't see them unless someone in the instance trigger them for you.
As long as you are floating, the dive toggle will work, unless you keep pressing it and makes it toggle on and off repeatedly... lol.
Note that the toggle only toggle the dive mode, it doesn't do anything more than that... after toggling the dive mode you need other controls to swim... check my previous comment for details.
You guys doing the SoM dive and the tutorial brought you to the cave dive zone first, but that one is hard due to that stupid camera grab design making it hard to view down and swim down, so it's best to try out the one near the tall waterfall (at the far end of the map), both leads to the same cavern area anyway.
Add-On Info:
If you are already in flight mode and fly right into the water at full speed, you will start in dive mode inside the water (if it's deep enough). So if you insist on using the tunnel near the cavern side in SoMoment, you can use this trick to dive right into the tunnel and hopefully it will bypass that camera grab zone and let you start diving without having to struggle with the camera. (Might require some aiming skill though...)
Not Tab, Not RMB, not shoulder bumper on controller.
You press the button and nothing at all happens.
After doing some searching, is it required to go and get the Diving mechanic from the boat in Golden Wasteland? Because there is absolutely no icons showing swimming and diving before doing that from what I can tell. (and the wiki post says the flying style icons should be replaced with swimming and diving icons)
Just going into water before doing that/reaching that point makes you only float around on the surface with no prompt to switch from swimming to diving.
(likewise it seems that the boat will only be available after a player has reached the Vault of Knowledge?)
