That's basically the gameplay loop, and it's understandable some may find it frustrating as it can feel like a chore to just collect wing light each week and grind candles.
As someone that doesnt care about cosmetics or the social aspect, there is 0 incentive for me to keep playing once ive seen the story.
All I wanted was to explore hidden areas I may have missed, but I dont want to grind wing power again, specially when I wasnt expecting to lose it all after the ending.
There are areas that are locked behind pay wall and limited time events. To get in those areas you will need a friend with the appropriate cape or real life cash shop items to bring you there. So either way, you will be needing the guide of a veteran player to explore the "hidden areas", and most of them are capable of flying and help you collect the wing light all over again... so... if visiting all places is your aim, you will need to make friends with the veteran players in the end, and that take time, especially to find one that owns the cape to access those areas (you may need to ask around official discord daily to get their attention).

Seasonal Spirits can only be visible after you visit Eden once too. So either way you need to lose those lights to unlock them.
Ok fair i also don't like to grind, But this is what i don't understand, this exactly the same as in journey, where you loose you scarf each time you reborn
I don't go for cosmetics i just travel around unlock new areas and complete quest (there are many there is one in particular that is under water makes the game kinda like abzu)
the game also gets regularly updated with new areas and activities and quest.
It may be to late, but you could have used your recently obtained Ascended candles to "Ascend" some spirits (the yellow locks with wings in their constellation) and it would have give you give you winged power at the beginning, this way the more times you go to eden the more winged power you start with. something can't even do on journey
In any case it's ok if you feel that you already got what you wanted from the experience, i do recommend that you visit the "The Treasure Reef" it is on a boat at the of golden wasteland social space to the right
And Sanctuary island on the Daylight Prairie, that's beyond a spirit door to the right in the area located after you jump from the social area
Each area is its own story and quests
(these are not paywalled, the areas meowish is refering to are small 2 extra promotions that are not really important)
I too come from journey, i enjoyed but it didn't click with me the first time i played, after abandoning and loosing my 1st account when i playing again was when i decided to stay.
You forgot about the White Robe in Journey.
No, i am not talking about the Seasonal Area, there are areas that you can only access by using the Teleport Ability on the Capes if you own them, or can only enter certain gated areas if you are wearing those capes.
Elder Temples (These can be accessed by scanning the bar code from the Pins bought in That Sky Shop, there are also the Glitch ways to access them in game, by going OOB)
Office Area (This can be accessed by players wearing the Beta or Founder Cape, the office area is also open to public for free during certain events.)
Dreams of A Little Friend Area (This can only be accessed by players with the Little Prince Asteroid Jacket, an area with tiny planets floating around telling you the story about the prince and the rose)
Aurora Concert (This can only be accessed by players with the Wings of Aurora, you need to visit this concert to complete the Aurora Quest Line.)
Nine Colored Deer (This can only be accessed by players with the Radiance of the Nine-Colored Deer Cape. You get to meet and spend time with the Nine Colored Deer here from time to time as it enters the area.)
Mario World 2D Area (AKA Nintendo Area, This can only be accessed by players with the Red or Blue Nintendo Cape, you get a new "Home Area" shown in a 2D perspective here with pipe designs like the Mario game. Can switch to 3D view as well.)
"Beyond this door, the light awaits.
By entering, you risk losing all winged light."
Thats the message, its so vague, it even says "risk", impying that if I play correctly I could keep all my upgrades. Again.. its so vague, I didnt know what I was getting into. So naturally I just took it as every games "point of no return" where once you are inside the level you cant go back until you see it through.
That being said, Eden is going to be traumatic for some people. Both the loss of all light and the emotional, visual, auditory experience.
My daughter played before I ever knew about the game; I learned about it from her. She was so traumatised by Eden, by the experience, by the friends pushing her to go, and how she perceived them ignoring her afterwards, that she basically quit the game after her Eden experience. She still visits, but very rarely; once every few months just to have a peek. Her feelings, and people like her, are valid, too.
Perhaps it would be best if players were given a clearer warning, with preparatory cut-scenes, to give players a better sense of what awaits them. Eden should not be a surprise. Not everyone can handle that sort of surprise.
