But there are a couple things already in the game that diminish it slightly less.
As you progress, you'll gain well over a hundred wing lights (including buffs) so situations like this won't bother you much anymore as it will take about a dozen hits at least to actually feel weaker.
And if you accumulate a large number of ascended candles (some 78 at a minimum I think) you'll be able to get an Elder mask that can protect you from a single hit (then you'll have to recharge it by traveling to a specific location or, well, suffer as if without it).
