as i have been playing on the switch and some android i find it vary frustrating to connect with friends can an extra text input be added to send invite to activate the code beyond qr scanning?

You are given an option to send invite codes instead of QR.
And as many text as you like along with that invite codes in your email/message to your friend imo....

On whatever medium you use to contact your friends i guess? It can be email, messenger, or some social platform you're using. If you feels like it, you can even write it on a paper and pass it to your friend the old school way if you're both in the same area and don't want to use the QR code.
Your friend can then input the code on his/her game under the Friend Invite thingy.

There's another way too but you will need to pray to the RNGoddess to place both you and your friend in the same instance in the game. Then you can spend a candle to unlock the friendship tree there.

It's right next to the menu option where you get that code. The button that says "Sky Codes"
