You can try using the alternatives like Alt+F1 ot Alt+F2 to take screenshot (Geforce Experience required)
Or you can try press Alt+Z in game, then do normal Steam Screenhot (default F12) and see if that works. (Same goes to Season of Moment Camera, do that before pressing the camera button in game)
If you're not using Nvidia then please try the following:
[1] Make sure Steam Overlay is properly working (default key "Shift+Tab"), the overlay is needed for Steam screenshot to function.
[2] Try turn off Fullscreen Optimization if you're on Win10
[3] Try turn off HDR and see if that works Win+Alt+B
Unless you need screenshots on Steam specifically I suggest trying an app called "lightshot"
I've used it for years and its amazing for screenshots.
But I've seen people taking and uploading screenshots on Steam Cloud like never happened, even having NVidia.
In my occasion, I used to make screenshots in Sky: CoFL back in 2023, but I can't make them now.
I tried reinstalling the game, turning NVidia's overlay off, and nothing changed.
And a GPU driver update did not fix it.
So most likely if anyone can take action on this, it's TGC. All we can do is wait.
Out of all screencapping utilities I've been the most comfortable with ShareX: it's open-source and doesn't shove its own cloud storage in people's faces.
That's why i said "some", not all are effected.
And a lot of them are actually using dual or multiple GPUs, dedicated GPU (mostly Nvidia here) and iGPU (from the CPU) and in some very rare cases, on board GPU (one that comes with the motherboard, very rare and only in some server type motherboard), there are also those who runs multiple dGPU (multi-slot GPU)... So we can't really be sure unless those reporting the errors have included full details on their specs. And that means updating only Nvidia doesn't help since the game ultilize other GPUs in the system and require all of them to be updated and supports Vulkan 1.3 overlay.
If one of the GPUs doesn't supports Vulkan at all, the game will not run, if one of them are on an older version of Vulkan 1.2, the game runs, but there will be errors. The game have multiple settings and it utilize whatever GPU that is currently free. For performance wise, it's best to set the game's own graphic to high, and set your system's Power management to High performance, that might help to ensure the game is always using your dedicated GPU to do its stuffs.
Yes, the game's old minimum requirement used to be Vulkan 1.2, but it has hence updated to Vulkan 1.3, that's why it works in the past and not now. Make sure you update all your GPUs to the latest from the manufacturer if they all supports the latest Vulkan 1.3, if not, you might want to consider disable those GPUs that doesn't support it and try to run the game again.
It also used to support AVX1.1, but now it requires AVX2. So the game might have trouble running on some really old PCs.
It used to only require 1gb Vram, but now it requires at least 2gb Vram to run the bare minimum.
Also for those using Win11, your HDR is automatically turned on, if one of your GPUs have trouble supporting it, it will effect your performance as well. So it's best to turn off that auto HDR and turn off HDR itself before running the game to see if that solved the problem.
Yes, it sounds complicated, but lets stand in the shoes of the devs, and imagine trying to work around the clock to make the game compatible with all types of GPUs (model by model).... it's not easy, so give them sometime to add the compatibility for your GPU if you think your spec is up to date and should work.
edit:
Oh yeah, almost forgot, back then the screenshot is made separately and saved as individual files in the game's folder. After December update, it now uses Steam's Screenshot function and save directly to Steam's screenshot folder. Which means there will be a certain more "requirement" behind.
[1] Make sure your Steam Overlay is working, it's required to do the screenshots. (The reason to turn off Nvidia Overlay is here, it might prevents Steam Overlay to start or work properly)
[2] Make sure you (the game) have enough permission to save files to the Steam's screenshot folder. Running the game and steam on admin normally solve this.
Also, cannot confirm the multi-GPU hypothesis, on my single-nVidia-GPU system (Ryzen 5 3600X + GTX 1080 Ti) it's broken in the exact same way.
For single GPU user you can exclude the multi-GPU solution (it's for those with multiple GPUs). But like i listed, there are still things to do before giving up. eg. Check if your Steam overlay is working. Check if you have given the game permission to write to Steam's screenshot folder. There's a major change on Steam by the end of Dec, a new version that no longer supports Win7 is introduced as early as the 1st day of January along with a new Steam Overlay, so we can not rule out the compatibility issues, Steam Overlay is known to fight control with Nvidia Overlay in the past and conflicted with each other. Normally Steam Overlay should be the one that wins the control given that you run Steam in a higher permission level, but still, nothing is 100%.
If you think your system has nothing wrong and it's developer's side problem, then all you can do is wait for the dev to add your card to the compatible list as i said earlier.
https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/3978-072C-18DF-FBF9
So we can not rule that out, even if you did set it to run, it may still crash (the overlay turned off itself due to insufficient resources) during game and you might not noticed the difference. That's why it's always the 1st to check when there's a screenshot problem or IAP problem.
I wouldn't be surprised if many of their answers are AI-assisted: just the right combination of large in volume, technically-sounding and (seemingly in random places) technically nonsensical. So the block keeps the forum cleaner for me, maybe it will for you as well. Posts from blocked users can still be unfolded when you suspect there might be something interesting.
Players who have an gtx 970 or those who have an rtx 4090 are all having the same problem, wait for a fix from tgc.
Advise are there for those who wish to trouble shoot the problem themselves without waiting for an official fix. If you can't keep up with the information, then it's advisable that you stick with the rest of the group that are waiting for the fix. You can't deny the rights of others that tried to troubleshoot the problem and trying to find a way around this tbh. And like i said before, all we see on the forum or discord are mere "this don't work" without proper details of their specs and o/s. When we get to know more, we get to pin-point the source of the problem for them. Same goes to the devs working to solve this problem, informations are needed, and if someone can confirm a "work around". it's the same as telling the dev there's a way to fix the problem.
