To find your friends on the map, first check the constellation for the name you've given to your friend (when you befriend them) and select it, your friend's character will show up in front of you as a sort of a hologram (just like the spirit), you can then see your friendship tree from there, pick the one that looks like a "fly to" icon, it will then ask if you want to join your friend, click yes and you should be teleported to the map where your friend is currently at, note that it may not directly teleport you right next to your friend, so you might need to search for them after that (ask them to honk and their name will show up on your screen indicating their location). If you unlock far enough into the friendship tree, when your friend honk, you get to see a teleport icon on your screen, click that and you can directly teleport right next to him/her.
There are multiple pages of friend constellation, the page with lines (drawn as constellation) is the page for the friends you set as "favorite" (pressing the Star on the friendship tree toggle this on/off), you get to set 60 (10 per constellation) friends as favorite. Those that aren't "Starred" can be found in the following page randomly scattered. Note that there's no way to unfriend a friend you've befriended in this game, so if you have more than 110 friends, some might not show up and you need to refresh the page to make them show. Pretty inconvenient but that's how Sky works.
