Who and where did you meet most often and least often?
Precisely in terms of countries and, possibly, language capabilities.

For example, in terms of players, I often come across people from India, but the messages in candles and paper boats are most often in Japanese.

I've mostly met people from Japan and Korea who had varying levels of English language knowledge, along with someone who I believe is German but also speaks English. I have a good friend who's from Amsterdam, but I met her through another friend from the UK that I met via the Discord server so I don't think that counts lol. My message boats are a pretty mixed bag but are mostly English, with Japanese and Chinese being the most common I come across.

I mostly meet people from China, Japan, Korea & Indonesia. Mostly from china though since the game is chinese.
Sometimes I meet people from the U.S i met a great friend from there & we chat a lot.
Overall I think you'll meet more people from Asia and less people from English speaking countries

Until I looked at Wiki, I also thought that the game was from China. However, the Wiki says that "Thatgamecompany" is located in the USA. The only thing that connects this game with China is the game designer Jenova Chen (or Chen Xinghan). Although, it is possible that I am wrong :NARAKATHINK:

There's a Chinese version of Sky that released on the same day as the global version, so while it's not technically a Chinese game there IS a Chinese version with a number of differences. I've met multiple Chinese players who migrated to the global server for the things we have, though.

Ah, now I understand. I remembered that in China there are strict requirements for games and developers who want to enter the Chinese market make different versions of their games. True, I didn’t think that the Chinese had the strength or desire to move to global ones.

This applies to basically any game. Chinese law requires foreign software companies to adapt their products to the censorship and state surveillance requirements, and use a local company as publisher (they can't do it themselves).

I see a lot of Chinese and Japanese-language messages, but everyone I end up talking to speaks English. About half are from the UK, and another half are from the US.

This has been my experience too, also the translate feature in chat works surprisingly well, sometimes I don't even realize they can't speak english until I ask. One of my fav features of sky is the translate function :)

I'm from France, and before giving this game a try on my computer, I used to play on my switch on which I spent many hours. Back then, I often met people from China, Japan but I also met people from Spain, England. As Auzi said, the Translator is a real neat feature since it wasn't available on switch ( maybe it is now, but not while I used to play; two years ago ).
