Old seasons feel like a slap to the face

I just completed season of dreams, that nice ice skating one. I came in to the game on the PC not knowing about it, so I didn't get to experience it the first time.

I see that really cool costume the main NPC gets given, the birdlike mask and red and yellow cape and I tell my friend I want it.

And then I learn, like so many other things I want, it's locked away forever because of really poor FOMO based game design choices, where just because I didn't know the game existed, I now miss out on something nice.

It genuinely has soured every experience I've had in this game where I learn there's another FOMO bit of content I really want but can't have because the devs decided to lock it away for no good reason. All because I had the gall to not know the game existed. It feels like the game is actively flaunting the item, and taunting me for not being able to have it.

Is there any chance they'll release these items again?

I agree with this view. It used to not bother me but, as I continued playing, I realized how weird it is for Sky of all games to have this kind of context. I'd be totally down for shelling out actual money if they brought back limited seasonal items as IAPs. I've missed a few seasons thanks to my wifi being too bad for me to play on my Switch for a long while with no alternatives, and I missed so many things like the Ultimate Gift capes from Season of Shattering.
EDIT: I forgot to add the Manta Projector. I'm so, SO mad I wasn't able to play during the season it was available. I would genuinely pay like 15-25 for that prop, I'm not even kidding.

As of right now, they probably won't release these things again. Not unless they see that there's a good market for it which there definitely will be with the PC version opening the gates to new players. We can only ask, make our voices known, and hope.

Yeah, it's weird to see FOMO in Sky of all games.

It could be argued that this is a curse of having a free game, but a counterargument is that if they made all of the rare items available, people would buy them and ThatGameCompany would get richer.

The issue here is how the game is designed. The only way to get Ultimate Gifts without whaling is to do dailies while the season of the same Ultimate Gift is going on, meaning that only one kind of dailies can be done for only one kind of Ultimate Gifts at the same time, because it would be impossible to get seasonal candles for more than one season at once.

A possible fix for this issue would be to allow players to choose which kind of seasonal candles they gather so that new players could gather candles for older seasons if they like.

Alternatively they could just combine all seasonal candles into one to make it simpler.

It would be wonderful if seasons could be bought as expansion packs after they ended. That way you could complete them at your leisure without the worry of FOMO.

The cost of a free game should be a cost, not a time-based limitation. I signed up to play a game, not to be mentally conditioned to play the game day by day, forming a habit akin to addiction, for fear of missing out on something.

Industry got us real comfy with this kind of thing. It's scary. I don't like it.

Honestly I would love to just give them the money so I could experience the thing and get the items. It's better than this.

I think a solution to old Seasons would be maybe how Halo deals with their Battlepass *spits* (sorry, auto-reaction to typing that word.) They let you work on old BPs, simply by choosing which you earn exp on.

Now how about if season candles were always there as season candles. Perhaps a little season candle sits on top of the gateway to the area they're in. BUT these candles are just "Season Candles", not tied, always up even if a season isn't running, then you can just choose to go use them at whichever Season Guide you want.
HOWEVER to do what other games have done, you can't use them in the two previous Seasons, after all, people have spent good money to have those items earlier than others.

Time and patience would be rewards for all \o/

Yes??? There is??? The Ultimate Gifts you can only get from guides if you had a Season Pass, for example. Like, the Manta Projector prop was an Ultimate Gift from the Remembrance Guide and it's now entirely impossible for anyone to get since the season is over. That's forever locked away.

Thank you for linking a source for me regardless. I'm genuinely surprised I've never heard a whisper of that until now. Thank you for letting me know! Maybe not all hope is lost for the Manta Projector lol.
