Oh, and about the parents. They weren't looking for anyone. They were out of town on a "vacation." In reality it was couples counciling thing since Jan might've been banging Ranger Rick, a co-worker.
As for Kate, she was in Europe traveling for year. The house is completely new to her and she got a cheap ticket home at a weird time, which explains why no one was really ready and waiting for her to come home. I assume they knew she was coming home within a several day time frame, just not exactly when.
Ok, so they were still on that vacantion, i thought when Kaitlin arrived the parents had known about Sam and her lesbian friend and why she flew away.
Kate arrived home at like 1 AM on June 7th. Lonnie shipped out either on the 5th or 6th, and called Sam the afternoon/night of the 6th and Sam stole some electronics from the house and left to find Lonnie later that night on the 6th. So Sam was "missing" for a few hours by the time Kate gets home. No one knows Sam is even really gone until you go up into the attic and find the journal Sam left for Kate. Before that, during the course of the day...based on some things Sam said towards the end...it seems Sam was thinking about suicide but Lonnie called and told her she couldn't go through with joining the Army and to come find her.

Go to the garage. Pick up a can from the recycling bin, go back to the garage door that goes into the house. Standing inside the garage, look up. You will see a tiny pink ball stuck in the ceiling. Throw the can against that ball and the ball will drop. Pick up the ball and go all the way to Sam's room. Throw the ball in the little basket behind her bedroom door.
Enjoy!!!
The last one is called "Nursery" - it's a pretty funny one too, at least at the end. To get it, close the folder in the east wing corridor and look at the torn tv listing

There they are. No major story you missed on those ones, mainly easter eggs and extra stuff. What you really missed are the mom and dad stuff, really nothing to do with the romance but really add to the environment
Also, you could try listening to the commentaries. Once you are done, you can start a new game (everything from before will be erased), then on the bottom left before you hit start, there will be a "modifiers" button. Just enable commentaries and start.
Walk around the house hitting the commentaries buttons. Some are quite boring, some are really cool to listen to, some even quite emotional, some just talk about tchnical aspects of the game, which can be cool. My favorite commentary was next to the kitchen, in a hidden compartment (that is open by default, for some reason). It's Sam's voice actress talking about how she felt when recording a journal. Very touching, and it makes you appreciate the game even more.
About mom and dad, yeah for me was a little jerky to "read" them, but i got my info about the second story from youtube.
Also, her parents aren't away trying to find her. They're on a vacation for their Anniversary because their marriage has been on the rocks.
Kinda, maybe she didn't had a friend who discovered her lesbian atraction before, until she met Lonnie. If she wasn't a lesbian when Lonnie got into her, she could refuse her, but she didn't. Guess this is some girlish typical behavior, on some girls at that age.
Also, about the change of life style, in one journal Sam says that Lonnie gave her some music to listen to, and Sam said she didn't stopped listening, you do this only when you like a type of music very much, or discover a new gender that you like.
So i guess this Lonnie came and "opened" Sam's "knowledge" about lesbian thing and changing behavior. And also i don't think Lonnie (who probably is 1//2 years older than Sam) knew something before, and wanted a partner for her lesbian attraction, i think both were just young girls, only that Lonnie made the first step, somehow. And Sam got nuts and wanted every bit of her live with Lonnie, probably because that was her first "in love" with someone, she still has a young age, though, so i think was a first for her.
