I stayed up all night playing this and I'm so glad I did
Played through in one sitting. I was confused, amused, nostalgic, happy, worried, sad, spooked, depressed, creeped out, and finally relieved. I'm glad I bought this game and gave it my full attention. What a masterpiece of storytelling and design. Bravo

Same here! I don't understand why so many people are saying they disliked it so much :(

I just finished it a couple minutes ago and agree! It's sad coming here and seeing so much whining. I mean, I understand it's not for everyone, but geez. I'm the type of person that looks around and explores games, reading buletin boards and such, so this game was a delight in that sense as it was basicly that. The story was great. I loved how I went back and forth a few times, like when you read/hear the last journal about the phone calls, I ran down to the answering machine to hear the messages again, finally understanding... Anyway. I couldn't get into Dear Esther at all, but Gone Home is amazing!

" I don't understand why so many people are saying they disliked it so much :("

I understand why lots of people don't like it, it is designed for a specific audience. I loved the game, but can see it is not for everyone. Having a hissy fit about it is another thing though.

The majority of the people who come on here to complain need to grow up and get over themselves. The gaming world is not obliged to cater to only their wants, it is allowed to try something different and make games for people other than themselves.

The ironic thing is that this game plays with empathy, something a lot of them could use a lesson in.

It's a shame the forums keep getting taken over by self absorbed cry babies determined to ruin the forums for anyone who enjoyed the game. Seriously, you are not the center of the universe, we are not interested in your self appointed all knowing gaming god status, man up and move on.

Agreed so much, I thought it was wonderful. Quickly jumped into my top 10 games of all time

I totally agree that this is not for everyone. I think it was one of the most emotionallly engaging digital experiences I have seen in a long time and definitely something that is pushing the envelope of what gaming can be. It is a beautiful, interactive short story that approaches the story telling in a completely unique way. If you're concerned with replayability, length or gaming conventions then this is probably not for you. It's not a game. It's a story told in an interactive format. I am excited that we are at the point in digital interactive media that something like this is being made and I can't wait to see where the medium goes from here.

Agree with OP.

This game is one of the best I've played, lots of people are complaining about how it's to much money for what it is, and all that. But I think it's a piece of art, waiting to be explored, the suspense and atmosphere makes you think it will be a scary game when really it's just you, walking around a house, discovering an amazing, but sad story.

I like this game very big, it's full of exploring, the 90's and emotions. It may not be worth twenty bucks, if you only calculate the cost/time thing. Add atmosphere and details (Detailverliebtheit) to it and it's absolutly worth it.

I just need to say I was so scared when I was going to the attis that I was going to see my sister had hanged herself from the rafters or something. I mean, did you guys see all those Bibles? A lesbian in the 90s in a highly religious household? Very glad I "played" this "game".
