Length, value?

Just wondering, how long on average does the game take to finish (average, not speed runs or retarded people playing it). and would you say it's worth $20 cause I'm kinda skint atm!

A typical playthrough is at least an hour and a half without skipping too much, to three hours if you take your time and look at everything once or twice. I was happy to pay $18 for it, but just wait for a sale if $20 is going to hurt you, I never buy a game before it goes on sale unless I'm really anticipating it.

Took me just short of 2 hours to finish it. It's up to each individual person to decide what they want to spend their money on. In hindsight, I personally feel I should've waited until it was on sale. It's a fantastic game and it's something everyone should play, but I feel a bit cheated.

I had 2 hours of fun and that's a little short. I would only be willing to pay 5-10 dollars max.

Took me about 90 minutes, I don't think I found everything. I know it would be a little out of genre but a completion meter would be nice (like for example I think you have 9 item slots, I ended up with fewer items..). My advice to my friend who asked: Wait for a Steam Sale. I mean it's an interesting game, but its extremely short and has no replayability.

It was surprisingly short, and as such I understand that people feel 18 euros is too steep. I kinda agree, it was a bit much to pay for 2-3 hours of gameplay, normally you'd expect more gameplay per euro... That being said, I really enjoyed this title. My advice to you is wait for a steam sale. Do *not* read more on the forum if you want to avoid spoilers, knowing the length of the game alone will ruin a lot of the experience, I am glad I played it not knowing what to expect, it is a huge part of the experience...

I refuse to believe anyone legitmately did this...but you are correct.

I played just under two hours of the game. Completed it on my own terms/pace and went back in for 20 or so minutes to find some goods the internet hipped me on that passed my analytical gaze.

So there you have it. It's an unique experience with a poignant story. It's two-three hours long. I regret nothing about my purchase. 20 USD is not a TON of money that some would have you believe (that's two tickets on a Friday night to a movie and it lasts just as long), but if you want to squeeze hundreds of hours out of your 20 USD...look elsewhere.

Wait until it hits the 10 dollar rack, buy it, then enjoy it. It's very good, but yes it's short. Solution, pay for it what it's worth.

Ever think he may have the stand alone version? It's not on my steam list either, but played through it twice, my wife once.

It's actually a reasonable assumption because there isn't a way to purchase Gone Home without acquiring a Steam key. Not that you're obligated to use it but it's a sensible guess.

It lasted about an hour for me and I dug up everything. Not at all worth $20. I'm sure it'll end up on a steam sale at some point.
