Why is that odd?
That was actually what maintained the creepy feeling for me the fact that some lights were on but some weren't. So I didn't know if there was going to be something at the end of the hallway in that lit room that I was gonna be shocked by.
It's not that odd. In my neighborhood for example, house robberies are fairly frequent, so when ever we leave the house, we also leave the lights on inside to create an illusion of somebody's presence. Also, if the family is wealthy enough to be unconcerned with the electricity bill, it would make sense to leave all the light on during the night, if the house is as huge as this one, instead of flicking a hundred switches on and off whenever you go somewhere.
This is not a horror game. This is a mediocre love story delivered in a awkward way with the pretense of being a spooky mystery to unravel.
He's the only person that answered the question. It's better than having someone lose out on $7 because nobody gave them a straight answer.
Yep, but its scary how people will fall in line when it comes to following the herd. The problem is that this game got glowing reviews not based on merit but topic and agenda. Basically reviewers who thought, I'd better push this game so "other people" can be enlightened as I am, which is frankly misguided and has been done to death in things like film.

Other people just like this game because they're sheep, here's a YouTube video that tells you what to think.
I really like the logical consistency and thoughtfulness in this ridiculous charge that just makes you look like reactionary and short-sighted. Telling other people why they like something is about as fruitless as wasting your time spamming the same stupid video.
They said that there was a creepy environment in the game. That's not exactly true. I do not see how it's creepy at all. I've seen gameplay of it so that I could see if it was worth buying but it was extremely unimpressive. It's basically a doll house that you move around in trying to unlock the doors and learn more of the story and it only takes a couple of hours to beat. Not that creepy.
EDIT: If it was longer then I probably would have bought it. The story didn't seem bad. I just can't justify paying more than a 1:1 ratio from hours played to dollars paid.
That has nothing to do with what I said. This game has no physical feedback besides your hands pushing buttons on a keyboard/mouse (or controller) so you don't lose any of the experience besides actually controlling the character. That would only change things in an action game where controlling your character is vital. This game has no gameplay besides moving around and looking at and opening things.
