I'm in the same boat. I've even been using a stopwatch app on my phone to time my run and by my count, I can open the book at 58 seconds but still not get the achievement. Other posts advised trying it in Windowed mode, but that hasn't helped so far.

Well... I guess "57 seconds" was the magic number. Just got it to pop finally.

Once the opening credit starts for the new game, hit Escape and you'll immediately begin the game. I don't know if that is truly the reason but I found that out the 2nd time trying this acheivement, and took me a couple tries before I got it. Also I sat and waited for the whole end credit. Once it finished, it gave me the acheivement. Hope this helps

The devs need seriously be beaten up for this achievement-BS. Trying the speedrun I start a new game, hit ESC, open the cupboard and stand on the attic before the book (or whereever I left the game last time). Well, quick as hell (about 5 seconds (irony)), but still gives no achievement. Very disappointing.

You think physical violence is an appropriate response to a bug in a piece of software? Man, I'm glad I don't work for you.

Not for the bug, but for this idiotic achievements.
Think of the target audience, before going all balistic.

"Going all ballistic?" I'm not the one saying people "need seriously be beaten up". Relax, my dude, it's just a game.

Sorry, but I didn´t mean you. But to add a one minute speedrun to an adventure game is very ballistic in my opinion. And not very clever in terms of advertising. Like:
"Hey, you can finish the game in one minute. And it takes 10 to see all relevant entries."

P.S.: the percentage of awarded achievements says it all (or there are even more bugs).

There an easy way to do it i think that the game runs slower on pc compared to playstation or xbox

I found these helps which worked for me to get the achievement:

1.) Hit ESC immediately after the cassette logo comes up to start the game immediately and bypass that long verbal intro (that saved 9 seconds for me).

2.) I had to watch the credits the WHOLE way through and ONLY then did the achievement pop up. The time before that I made it in 58 seconds and the achievement didn't pop up right after I read the journal so I skipped credits and played again - made 59 seconds on my phone and then watched the credits and that's when the achievement popped up.
