Controller not working with GOWR

Good afternoon,

I purchased God of War Ragnarok on PC yesterday and cannot get my xbox controller to work.

When I launch the game I see the controls switch from mouse and keyboard to Xbox controls when I press a button, but after that the inputs no longer work.

A list of things I have tried are as follows:

Enabling and disabling the xbox controller inputs for steam and for god of war in the properties.
Making sure that the drivers for my xbox controller is up to date
Uninstall and reinstall of the game
Tried a different controller (same result)
Updating nvidia drivers
Checking for bios updates
Enabling xbox services on the PC
Turning on the xbox extended support driver feature (that did nothing)

I am at a complete loss at what to do here. If I could please get some assistance that would be very much appreciated. I have been trying to contact support for like 3 days now.
