Level design - my biggest gripe with the game
I like this game and I'm happy I bought it but there was something that irked me from the very first moment but couldn't place my fingers on - until I reached Freyas homeworld Vanaheim.
Is it me or do some places in Ragnarok look nice but REALLY fake? It's not the graphics per se, it has more to do with how they build them. In the original God of War I only had this issue once (with the dwarven king's level) but here it's everywhere. I feel like the Ironwoods looked good enough and worked because there were different terrains that had restrictions that made sense and good lightning but Valaheim in a prime example of a level that feels really out of place. It got even worse when Freya tells the player short anecdotes from her childhood when you reach her "village" and my only thought was: "I don't believe the sceneray of that village for a second.
And that's all a shame because in other places (like the dwarven village) the scenery actually looks convincing. It's the big contrast that pulls me out of the experience way too often.

There were no dwarves in the original God of War lmao, almost the entire game takes place on Cronos's butt
