What's your recommended/favourite difficulty?

I was wondering this, because I see a lot of conflicting opinions online. I don't mind a challenge, I love DS/ER/Soulslikes and all that jazz. I also understand GoW is no soulslike in that way. I played GoW2018 over a year ago and really enjoyed it, I believe I did the difficulty slightly above Normal or Balanced whatever. Can't remember the exact name it had.

Now I'm seeing people argue a lot that Balanced is way too easy, but stepping up to No Mercy is way too much of a step up. With damage sponges, drawn out battles and super punishing enemies (die from a single mistake, or 2-3 hits etc.)

I'll never touch max difficulty on games like this, that just isn't how I enjoy my games. But I do enjoy somewhat of a challenge, because I already got enough brainrot from grinding camos in the new CoD.

Currently starting with Balanced, just to get used to everything again. Might bump it up later to No Mercy and see if it really is that bad.
