Are Y attacks powered only by STR and not RNC?
I am playing on GMGOW. I experimented with different things before deciding to go with a STR build using Vidar armor for my serious series, serious 100% completion no deaths run.

I noticed Y powered attacks do ridiculous damage. The Flame Whiplash attacks especially delete enemies with such ease it almost feels like cheating.

Because my RNC is very low, I am thinking that every single attack on the skill tree is powered by STR regardless if it produces ice or flame and RNC only affects the runic attacks not elemental attacks.

It seems it would be better to just use all the experience points to power up your favorite moves from the skill tree and relic instead of the runic attacks which will also need you to spend points on cooldown to be effective.

What do the experts think? :lunar2020thinkingtiger::questionmark:

Runic is for elemental damage. Very effective for runic attacks that use more elemental power than straight damage or stun.

Strength is basically just a base number for physical damage.

Honestly just play with whatever style suits you best. There's no right or wrong answer.

That's what I thought but it seems the attacks from the skill tree are affected only by STR. My Kratos so far has 164 STR and only 27 RNC but the Flame Whiplash moves destroy everything. Also, I just beat the first Hateful you see in Vanaheim and the powered axe moves took big chunks of her purple life bar.

I have the 20% bonus from the Vidar set but still it shouldn't be doing so much damage unless STR is what powers up the Y move set and not RNC.

In your Skill Tree, did you also unlock the modifier tokens for the skills that have them? You'll see there that some tokens are more element-based than damage.

Also 27 Runic is extremely low. But again, it all depends on your play style too. The flame whiplash attacks are strong though. You're still pretty early in the game though, you're gonna face touger foes later.

Yeah. I use the element mod on the R1 attack and the damage mod on the R2 attack.

Same. That combo is insanely OP. Even in Give Me God of War.

Status effects like frost and burn are extremely powerful when using the right gear like the pyre set. Poison is also really good since it lowers the enemy level by 1 when they're affected.
