Can't upgrade Atreus' Runic attacks post-update
Pre-update, I was able to play the game without needing to sign-in (was a gamble, seeing as how PSN didn't always seem mandatory for everyone who reported the same phenomenon here).

Since the update, where PSN was removed, I'm no longer able to spend any of Atreus' XP on Runic upgrades. I don't even see the tiers assigned (I, II, III). Is this a bug? Doesn't seem intentional. Rebooting the game doesn't work, nor does validating the files or reinstalling the game.

EDIT:
Turns out you can upgrade, as confirmed by myself and another user below. The prompts to do so are invisible however. This needs to be fixed.

Devs should always include an option to downgrade an update if a new one breaks the game.

However, the tiny update that I just downloaded seems to have fixed the prompts being invisible.
Oh a new update just dropped? Nice, I'll check out when I get back home.

Yep. Fixed all the issues I was having. Not sure about crashes or controller problems as I haven't encountered those.

I should specify this is with Atreus as my companion, not playing as Atreus.
I'm having the same issue post-update.
Nothing of the kind seems upgradeable now. I'm also playing as Kratos atm but with another companion, it's the same with their runic stuff. Also with Kratos' own runic attacks as well as his relic and spartan rage...

OK so I'm not seeing things. This is real. Sucks that's also affecting Kratos on your end.
Update:
Got a new hilt in the Vanaheim Crater region. Can't upgrade it, none of the options show up.

same issue
Update:
Upon reloading a checkpoint after dying, I can no longer upgrade any of the hilts. Ffs
Holy ♥♥♥♥...
Turns out you can upgrade. But the icons and prompts are invisible. BRUH. Was able to do so with my controller even though the prompt to upgrade wasn't there.

Did they even test this?

Can confirm if you hold to upgrade, it works. The prompt showing is completely broken. Hopefully they fix it soon.

+1 on confirming this works. It sucks to not know how much the cost is, but at least upgrading is possible this way. Thanks, man!

Edit: Nvm same problem I see what you mean the Relic prompts are gone Yee

I tried manually deleting the old version of the PSN Runtime SDK as it seemed to fix other issues caused by Patch 8 (reported by other users here). Nada.

Really hoping for a fix soon. Other than that, performance seems to be smoother. My GPU isn't running as hot or under as much load for the same framerate. Texture pop-in is still bad though, but nothing game-breaking, just distracting at times where it happens.
I'm having the same issue runic upgrades are still there but rage, relics and freya/Atreus abilities are gone.

So, for those of us who are having this problem, you can press R2 on controller (or keyboard equivalent) to see which upgrade level you still have to unlock which will be shown with the orange-ish color pips on the upgrade screen for damage and stun, etc... A bit annoying, but at least upgrading still works at all. You can also verify upgrading still works by holding square or the keyboard equivalent and the "upgrading" sound will still play.

Hopefully they fix this ASAP because it essentially means the game is slightly broken and I can see new players not knowing about this wondering why they can't upgrade anything at all since the prompts are gone right now.

Yep, as stated above I figured this out by pure luck. Still annoying as you can't see which tiers are available and how much XP you'd be spending on upgrades.

It is annoying, but I've adjusted. I look for the indicator on screen showing whether something can be upgrade before doing it. Hopefully it gets fixed. It can't be a hard bug to correct. It's just an invisible prompt. I can't even fathom how this happened. Somehow removing a PSN requirement bugged a prompt in the upgrade screen? Game development is weird.
