I honestly can't really stand Atreus or his sections either. I find him just as annoying as you but, and this is a big but, all that you just describe here...
...is a pretty good summary of "being a teenager". Atreus is pretty well written - even if he is incredibly annoying - because he's a teenager who also happens to be a god who has been told he's got a super special uber destiny.
I just hope his arc is finished and he is nowhere near the next game.
He's portrayed pretty realistically, especially given the fact he's not just a child becoming an adult, but also dealing with things FAR beyond what most children or adults have to.
