Nope nice and smooth 120FPS maxed out, 1440p native, just played for 2 hours straight.

Hi did you tried to verify game files? are you graphics card drivers are updated?
If you have CPU with iGPU game might switched to integrated graphic card.
For NVIDIA
Go to nvidia control panel then 3D settings management then in preferred graphics processor choose high-performance nvidia processor instead of automatic. Save and try to start game again.
For Radeon just use Adrenalin and check that your first GPU is you dedicated graphics card.
Edit: If this not helped you can use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) wipe all graphics card drivers and intall fresh ones.
