Playable on Steam Deck?
Is it possible to play God of War: Ragnarök on the Steam Deck even though it hasn’t been verified yet? Has anyone tried it?

Yes and it runs well

Thank you very much for your response. Have you tried it yourself? Does it stay above 30 FPS? Does it crash at any point?

Once you let the shaders compile, it runs above 30fps with a good mix of medium and low settings, FSR 3.1 on balanced. FSR 3.1 looks really well done in this game.

I can't for the life of me fix an incessant audio stutter on the Steam Deck OLED, though. I've tried different proton versions, restarting the game, changing the audio mix in the game, rebooting the Steam Deck itself. I've seen reports of other people also dealing with audio stuttering.

Thank you, christofin. I take notes about those settings.

I’m not very good at this stuff. What does "let the shaders compile" mean? Should I start the game and let it "load" a bit before I start playing, or is this something I should do before launching the game?

Regarding the audio issue you mentioned, is it very annoying? enough to ruin the gameplay experience?

Shaders refer to code the game runs on your GPU for visual effects. Compiling these ahead of time prevent stutter during gameplay. When you load into the game, you'll see a progress indicator in the bottom right corner - just wait for that to hit 100% before starting the game and you won't deal with stutter induced by shader compilation.

The audio bug I mentioned doesn't seem to be universal to Steam Deck owners so I'm not sure what's going on there.

It runs really well. The FPS is mad sometimes - at 70fps at times! That’s at low preset and FSR on balanced.
One thing that scuppered me was the first time you have to access the skill menu it won’t recognise the button - it doesn’t crash just won’t acknowledge the button - I had to start in mouse/keyboard mode and allocate ‘I’ to a button to proceed!
It was fine after that though - just went back to normal controller settings.

I heard this issue as well, but I'm not getting any audio issues unless I use like 5 watt tdp, but that happens in most games

IF it doesn't run on Steam deck use the launch option: SteamDeck=1 %command% and it should work like a charm.

So don't play it. No different than needing a Microsoft account for their games or Uplay or Origin for their launchers or for that matter a Steam account to play games on Steam. If making an account is such an issue then maybe videos games aren't for you as you have to make an account for literally everything.
