What the hell happened to Kratos’ voice?
So many of his lines in this game are spoken in such a forced deep fry, way more exaggerated than anything from the previous title. If you have headphones on the dude makes tiny little grunts to literally every single bit of movement and I swear they are all unique. They must have had the voice actor in the studio for hours recording a hundred different “umph”s and I don’t know if it’s impressive sound design or just annoying as ♥♥♥♥.

Cool game otherwise.

I can't find anyone else talking about this, but it's so notice. Chris Judge is straining to do Kratos in this game.

Tbf Kratos is over a thousand years old, and has dealt with a massive pile of ♥♥♥♥ all his life and now has to fight in arguably the largest war he's ever been in, with his son and friends/family involved, with the large possibility of his and his son's deaths to boot. Bro's been through the wringer far too many times and is still going through it. I imagine I'd also sound like a guy who just got lit up with an AK after all that.

Yeah, I noticed this after going back and watching clips from 2018. He's definitely a lot more "crackly" sounding than he was in the first game. I guess just a consequence of getting older.

There's a game that does a great job of making the protagonist sound more edgy as you progress through the story, especially when it starts effecting him to the point of cognitive dissonance. I'm talking about Spec Ops The Line, very well written and a good one to play.
