An Open Letter to Sony Regarding God of War: Ragnarok’s Audio Issues

To Sony and the team behind God of War: Ragnarok,

Let me begin by acknowledging the immense achievement that Ragnarok is so far. After just a few hours, it’s clear that this game is a masterpiece. The visuals are breathtaking, the combat is fluid, and the story has gripped me in a way few games can. However, there’s a critical issue that I simply cannot ignore, and it needs immediate attention.

As someone who owns an epic 7.2 Dolby Digital surround sound system, I demand the full immersive experience that God of War: Ragnarok is capable of delivering. Yet, despite this cutting-edge setup, I’m stuck in stereo mode, with no ability to fully utilize my hardware. This is not just disappointing, it’s utterly unacceptable. A game of this caliber should never limit players to sub-par audio output, especially when it promises an experience that engages all the senses.

The voices are trapped in a flat, lifeless stereo sound, and the immersive 3D audio—something that should be a highlight of a game like this—is completely missing. How can I, Starscream, the master of all that is superior, truly enjoy the roar of battle when the thunderous sounds fail to resonate through my state-of-the-art sound system?

This needs to be fixed immediately. I give you one week—two max—to release an update that unlocks the full potential of the audio. Anything less would be a disservice to the excellence you’ve crafted everywhere else in this game. You’ve set the bar high with God of War, and this is the one area that’s letting the entire experience down.

My praise for the game remains, but this audio limitation must be addressed as a top priority. I’m not waiting around for half-measures.

Do better,
Starscream :Decepticon:

Part of the problem here is the PS5’s hardware: the Dualsense Controller.

This ♥♥♥♥ has a speaker and it is causing audio issues with certain games that use this feature.

Sony should get rid of that stupid speaker. It’s a useless gimmick.
