Game compile shaders at every launch
As the title say. It's been happening since patch 5. GOW keeps compiling shaders whenever i launch the game (at various %ages too, sometimes it's the whole thing, sometimes it starts from 60ish or any other %).

What's going on? Shader comping should only happen at the very first launch of the game (and i mean after installation, not every time the game gets booted like in my case) or if you update graphics drivers (which i didn't).

Anyone else running into the same issue?

Yep, no issues with it so far though. It only takes a few seconds to compile.

Yes, but it shouldn't be happening.

So explain to me why it has never done it before patch 5 aside the very first time i booted the game or when i updated my gpu drivers.
Let's hear it, genius.

This thing happened to me since release not any patches...

Not for me sadly. As i said, it did the first time i ever booted the game (obviously) and when i updated my gpu drivers 2 weeks ago. Then once it got updated to patch 5, it started doing it at every launch of the game, and as i said, at random %ages. So there's definitely something wonky happening there.

Im not saying the game is broken, im saying that all of a sudden im compiling shaders even tho they already have been compiled and they should not need to be recomped each time one launches the game. And yes, it is annoying to have to wait 1/2 minutes for shaders to get compiled (especially when it starts from 1%) or have to suffer immense stuttering while that is happening.

I play on a high end machine (7800x3d, 6900xt, 32 gb ddr5 6000mhz and a pci 5.0 gen nvme) so there should be no reason i have to wait that minute or two to play it, ESPECIALLY when it wasn't happening before patch 5. Because again, compiling shaders should not be happening everytime the game gets booted up. It's not even a matter of discussion lol. It's not the way shader compiling works, that's my point.

Same here, but it is not a problem. I can start playing the game while the compilation is at almost 70% and feel nothing wrong happening.
After Driverupdate i haven't tried to start early because i wasn't curious enough...

So please try and report back if it's possible for you to just ignore the compilation.

Shader Compilation on new boot to Main Menu has happened to my system since release even after patches

I have 5600X 3070 16GB RAM and installed on a WD SN850 SSD

Shaders compile in 10-15 seconds.

I don't see this as an issue at all.

yes i have the same issue and they have to fix this , this is nonsense to compiling shaders every time and OfCourse it's a bug , even on RPCS3 which is an Emulator this isn't happening and after one time compiling you are good to go
Schneidebrett Oct 9, 2024 @ 7:41pm
For real dudes. Just select "continue" and knock yourselves out.
The compilation starts at like 65% and it is (in my case) possible to just start the game without waiting for it to get to 100%
I dont even wait at all and mash the "X" equivalent of a button

For me sadly it's also from 1%. And starting the game from 1% means it's stutterville for at least a minute. Again, it's nothing game breaking but it shouldn't.be.happening.

That's the whole point of this post. IM NOT SAYING THE GAME IS BROKEN. I AM SAYING THAT SHADER COMPILING SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING AT EVERY BOOT OF THE GAME, ESPECIALLY NOT AT 1%.

finally someone with a brain. Jesus christ.

It's like arguing with me if i say "the sky is blue". Sure, you can argue all you want it isn't, but you will never be right. No matter how much cope excuses like "just wait a minute" "just press continue" one can throw.

EDIT Suprise surprise, it happened again, from 1%, so 10/15 seconds my ass. Yeah im done with this game until they bother fixing this ♥♥♥♥. It's ridicolous.

Well, sorry to read that mate.
Let's think of possible fixes then, shall we?

Roll back your video drivers or reset them, both via DDU. This takes a few minutes but could fix the problem.
If not, maybe the next step could be deleting and reinstalling all of those 175 GB?

I know the order of things should be "first game, than drivers" but dependend on your network, game takes much more time

I might overstep my bounds here but since it is an isolated problem with you two and i hear nobody else complaining, the solution must be searched and found in your pc.
