I almoast finished the game and I'm at level 5 O_o

I just started some missions in Vanaheim after finishing the "Creatures of Prophecy" main quest.
I should be at 80% of the main quest and I'm still level 5.

It's weird because I am trying to explore the world as much as possible and I have done most of the sidequests that are not sidequests.

Why I'm only level 5?
I have the Lúnda armour at level 5, I haven't powered the armour via the blacksmith because I don't want to waste resources, resources that I would like to use for better armours when I'll get them.

What am I doing wrong?
Any suggestions?

Ideas:
Have you been upgrading the weapons and the shield?
Have you been equipping higher level relics/ronds?
In case you missed it: there is a new area in Vanaheim that opens up after that quest you mentioned, you can get a new armor set there. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look for the dog near the main camp.

I have followed the dog but Vanaheim bosses seems to bee too difficult for me.
Ok I'm not that good but I play videogames since allllot of years and never had similar problems before.

The "level" is based on the gear total level. It was the same in God of War (2018). So, get some upgrades if you struggle :)

youve not been upgrading that much then, or rather doing side quest to be able to upgrade them more.
I dont think you need to be higher than level 6 or 7 to beat the game though. Likely varies on difficulty. If I remember when I did literally everything I got max level on the ps4 pro back at launch. It might have been high level 8.
