The writing in this game sucks

Dialogue felt clumsy at times and forced , overtly sentimental yet lacking any real kick - like some sort of marvel soap opera.

The plot.. alright.. until it's not . The pacing is horrendous, the game is about ragnarok yet the final battle, so iconic in Norse myth is what ? some lame 15 minute fight with random lno name enemies before having the lamest final boss battles of the entire series ..

What was the point of Loki ? Loki didn't do anything.. if he was simply Atreaus the entire time nothing would have really changed. The only thing that made him Loki was being the "father/creator" of Fenrir and the giant serpent. Fenrir the wolf kills Odin, and the serpent kills Thor in myth. If they had actually done something with either of them, the Loki story would have made sense, and also wouldnt have wasted the characters of either...

Thor and Odin... lame af.. Thor was turned into weepy sobering alcoholic.. Odin was cool but didnt do anything at all, never felt like an actual threat , you never saw him actually do monstrous things really.

SO you think the battle of Ragnarok in the game was good ? it was ass, was extremely anti climatic with the lamest final bosses the game has seen yet .

Writing was marvelesque you cant deny it compared to the OG series , which had the classical refinement.

How they wrote Thor.. can be discussed.. I didnt like him either.. he is just a big baby and once he was a step ahead of changing he got killed. But you always saw his inner conflict, with the giant killing and alcohol addiction.. that was well done. I felt his pain so it was alright. The two fights are okay.. nothing groundbraking.

Odin is a tad bit underutilized yes but saying he did nothing is just wrong. He did kill Brok. He manipulated Atreus and moved the story forward. Without Odin in disguise.. Kratos would have just chilled in his fkin house. Odins fight was good imho.. definitely better than Thors even tho I didnt like the McGuffin hunt that went nowhere at the end ofc.

Ragnarok itself.. yeah was a bit disappointing but I liked how they wrote Thrud.. even tho Sif's 180° came weird. Freyas "bow to your queen" line surely felt awkward considering that Odin literally kneeled already.

Overall there is worse writting. It's okay.. not particulary great but good. How they turned Sindri after Broks death tho.. incredible. If you cant feel his pain you are dead inside.

It made me thinking if Kratos and Atreus ever said .. "thank you" to them.

But yeah all the Atreus/Loki parts felt forced in after writing the story. Nothing he did went anywhere besides meeting Angrboda and making friends with Thrud which surely was important. I enjoyed his parts.. even the ironwood... but mainly because of the boss fight. I sympatise with Atreus who wants to help animals.

God of war ragnarök is the worst God of war game I have ever played. it is the teen angst the game. holy crap this game sucks, I will probably finish it might delete it before. One of the worst games i have plaeyd in many years.

My issue with the games writing is that so much of the characterizations and dialog of some characters feel too modern. Their inflections and choice of words are too current. I don't expect them to speak in some stilted 'ye olde times' nonsense but the way lines are delivered, and the words used, feel like they could be straight out of some modern gangster crime show half the time. Feels so lazy.

I dont mean Kratos, atreus, the dwarves.. or even Freya mostly, it's just the bulk of the (new) supporting characters I have this issue with.
