Using DLDSR on borderless games...
I am an avid user of DLDSR since i discovered it about 3 years ago. i dont play my games any other way especially if the game has exclusive Fullscreen mode which gives me access to the DLDSR resolutions from within the game menu. Unfortunately, as many of you know, a lot of games nowadays come in the flip mode that does borderless window and so the DLDSR resolution is not accessible from within the game. the only way to get it is to run the DLDSR resolution from desktop before launching the game. I have always wondered why nvidia doesnt give an option from the nvidia control panel to actively select each games property to include selecting the DSR resolution menu as well so that each game can run at whatever resolution you select and that when you exit the game it returns back to native. i have been looking for a way to do this for years now and frankly im surprised i havent seen or read to many people ask about this either. Is there already a way to do this and i am just not aware of it? can anyone please chime in?

I faced the same issue when I started using DLDSR...so I started using DLDSR resolution in desktop as well coz as of now that's the only solution.

Use AutoActions [github.com] to detect the game you are running and force your desktop to switch to the resolution you desire. After you close the game it will return to the resolution you want. pretty simple and easy to use.
I used it for this purpose all the time but now i just use it to force HDR on for specific games.

I just checked it out. looks promising. i havent dabbled too much into it, my first impression is that it reminds me of playnite which i have also tried recently since i put up this message. playnite seems to work and is in fact more polished looking that autoactions from what i see on the surface so far. the only issue i had with playnite was that once i exited the game, it didnt restore back to my native resolution with the refresh rate.

ok so i just tried it. it works for when you start the game it automatically switches the resolution and color depth and refresh rate based on what you picked but then when the game exist, it remains the same. shame as this is the final step for it all to work perfectly and i can see the option there but ive tried several times and it does not work. its as if the program does not understand i just exited a game out of steam. unless someone else has success with this?

and you added an "application closed" to the profile?

yes i added a application closed: to restore display back to 3440x1440 at 144hz 10bit color but it never returns. i also did a test for HDR to deactivate to see if the application closed was working at all and the HDR sequence did work fine.

can you please give us some insight as to what may be going on?

no idea to be honest. Could be a display driver interaction issue? Have you tried a clean install of gpu drivers using DDU? Then re-install autoactions and see if it fixes the issue?
