Wait... are you talking about the Intel 3xxx series CPU's??? If so, the CPU is 12 years old. You might as well demand them to try and port this game to the Playstation 2. You've made about 10 posts about this and unfortunately in this case, the problem isn't theirs, it's yours.

I guess many have purchased some old xeon's v1 from 2011/2012 because of the high core count like E5-2690 that has only AVX 1 and was 20$ to 30$ they where decent pre 2020, second hand market has been flooded with them at some point because many companies where sending them to recycling but they ended up on ebay or aliexpress, they are pretty obsolete in 2024 because many of them can't even max out a 3060, but is understandable people want to get bang for the buck and where a cheap alternative to get into pc gaming.

with all due respect, I think that if you cannot afford a somewhat modern CPU with AVX2 support then you shouldn't be buying full price games either, maybe you can spend the money the game costs on a 2nd-hand CPU with AVX2 support like a Zen 2 3600 and then later down the line get this game on sale, I mean, just my 2 cents.

Unlikely, nothing about avx 2 was in patch notes.

you are wrong about that. They have average single-core performance because of older tech process and lower stock clock. However multi-core performance with unlocked turbo boost is nearly on par with older Ryzens like R5 3600 and that's what important for modern gaming.
BTW I have owned the setup like this and it easily maxes out rtx3060 in GoW2018 or any other triple-A title like RDR2 or TLOU

The request is phrased wrong. We want Santa Monica Studios to provide an additional executable compiled for standard architectures (no AVX/AVX2/FMA, etc.). It's a compiler setting that can be adjusted in Visual Studio. We don't want them to alter the current executable, so that new-gen players can still use it. But to provide an additional executable so old-gen players can enjoy the sequel as well.

Profit: sales will increase.

I think the main issue is the price of upgrading the CPU is more than just buying the part itself. Most of these older motherboards don't support CPUs that have AVX2. Meaning you have to buy a new mobo + cpu + ram and possibly a new PSU. And at that point you are basically buying a new system for the five or six games that require it. The only game I'm willing to spend $700 for a new PC is GTA 6. All the games I own run 60fps 1440p just fine.

You are right that additional exe for legacy CPU users is needed. However most PS ported games need some sort of vector instructions. It is possible to completely replace them with SSE but
- it will require significant effort, basically total reingeneering of engine code
- performance will suffer

On the other hand replacing AVX2 with AVX is relatively easy and performance won't suffer that much because AVX is a vector instruction set too. Additional AVX-only exe is all we need.

went through all the latest AAA projects on my "outdated" processor without problems of lags, freezes, etc. AVX are just a commercial system, just so that people go and bring money to manufacturers of PC components, and they don't give a sh*t about people's opinion about it, no matter what anyone says about PC performance and stability.

even V4 xeons with ddr4 can't match something like 10400\3600 in gaming
