How's the performance compared to the first?
Similar or way more demanding?

they both run very well on my 2 pc's.

desktop -
ryzen 5 7600x
32gb ram
RX 7800XT
nvme
windows 10

max settings, 1440p, FSR3.1 quality, around 80-120+fps

Handheld - ROG Ally z1 extreme
windows 11

FSR3.1 balance + Framegen, medium settings get anywhere from 60 to 80fps

Where the game starts, in Midgard it runs just like GOW2018.. travel to the first realm and things are wayyyyyyy worse. The new realm is nice looking sure, but there are some performance oddities that are not alleviated even by dropping to absurdly low resolutions.

Well they both run pretty well

I just played a 4 hours session without any crash, just lagged for a few seconds like two times in two different "region transition" phases.

Playing with DLSS Quality @4K with 80-100+ FPS with AMD Frame Gen

Specs:
5600x
3070
16GB RAM
WD Black SN850 SSD

This game has amajor Vram/Memory leak issue. I got a 3080TI/5950x/32gb and I run everything ultra native 4K 60 FPS. But after anywhere between 20 mins and 1 hr my FPS starts to tank HARD!. With those settings the game says I'm only using 70-80% of my Vram. When it starts tanking the game states i'm now using over 100% and eventually it will tank my FPS to the 20's and below. The only fix is to completely close the game and start it up again to clear the memory leak.

I had faced similar issues so let me ask you a thing:

Are you playing the game with a wireless Bluetooth controller?

I have a 7800x3d and 4090, and i am not impressed by the performance when you arrive in the first realm. the first one plays and feel a lot better. For this one, to keep fps above 100 all the time i need to use DLSS balanced at 4K, or stay in native and use FSR fame gen ( Nvidia fame gen is working now after the patch but performs not great), and the frame cap in the game is broken for me( it stays on unlimited even when i set it to 72 fps). Hope a new patch will come out soon to fix the various issues.

That is weird with your specs you should be running this game without any issues with DLSS Quality / DLAA with AMD Frame Gen (its better implemented for now in this game), with Ultra settings

Yes, with AMD frame gen and DLSS / DLAA is works fine with over 140fps all the time...but compare to the first one it runs bad as I did not have to rely on frame gen to achieve my targeted fps. Without frame gen the game behaves weird sometimes with clear GPU bottleneck when my cpu is at less than 50% utilization.

I have been having these same issues with stutters and audio dropouts after around 1-1.5 hours, forcing a complete restart of the game to fix before it occurs again after 1 hour. Quite annoying as it runs smooth until then with no issues. And yes i play using bluethooth controller on my TV.

Aaah I see, well I would suggest just stick to the AMD Frame Gen for now until they patch in the issues

Yea so you won't believe me, but this exact issue is caused by a bluetooth wireless controller in this game now!

After I plugged in my Xbox One Controller, there have been 0 issues running this game 👀

All those problems you mentioned even I faced and now it's completely gone.

Set "Tessellation" to Medium in the graphics settings and all your woes will go away. 7 hours into the game so far with zero crashes and frame drops.

Nice, meanwhile I have never crashed in this game (probably got lucky)
Tessellation: MEDIUM does improve a bit of performance, but I keep it on HIGH

Yea. I play the majority of my games with a XB1 controller.

2018’s port is much better. The first act of the game was mostly fine with a few noticeable frame drops. The second act has almost been unplayable due to crashing.
