Bug in side mission conscience of the dead

Just played this side mission and almost at the end, the last enemy encounter before you return to the spirit, the last enemy I killed was of the kind that explode when they die and after dying it killed me.

I then respawned unable to continue with the mission because the enemies did not respawn but I was unable to finish the quest by talking to the spirit.

Anyone else experienced this or knows how to fix?

Yeah, I got the same issue. It's a common bug, but for some reason it's never been patched out.
