ragnarok is by far the worst god of war game
its still a decent game but its 100% the worst god of war game. the writing is a mess that only gets worse the more you think about it. as an example odin is depicted as a good guy despite what every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ character tells you

odin didnt kill ANYONE in the game hell he never even attacked anyone until he was basically forced to. before someone says "he killed brok!" no he didnt because brok was dead long before kratos even met him as it was confirmed that sindri decided to be a selfish little ♥♥♥♥ and essentially steal a part of his brother's soul to bring him back to life. odin also wouldnt have done that if atreus didnt steal the mask. odin is basically the only character besides mimir that didnt treat kratos and atreus like ♥♥♥♥ at some point. thats just 1 poorly written aspect of the game. the ending (or lack thereof) is another. add the ♥♥♥♥ pacing because so damn much had to be put into 1 game because someone in charge was too incompetent to just allow the devs to make a damn trilogy and you have the worst written god of war game. the gameplay is fun but not even close to being as fun as god of war 3 or ascension and the atreus sections sucked

Not even trying to be funny but you clearly just don't understand the writing at all.

Good observations, GoW 1-3 are the best! GoW 2018 improves graphics but it went downhill there. Not as great story as GoW 1-3 but not sure how to improve upon it as well.

The worst part for me is they way to get to change fire giant to become ragnarok. I think, he should be in a certain labyrinth where they have to break his heart to transform him into ragnarok. Or probably steal frost giant heart then place it in fire giant body.

Now, what they just did is Talk no Jutsu.

It’s impressive to be so deluded by what you saw of Odin that you ignored everything you heard of Odin from those who were close to him. I’d even argue that it is good writing to have fooled you so badly. Odin is directly responsible for the enslavement of the dwarves, the slaughter of the Jotnar, the corruption of the Valkyries, the imprisonment of Tyr (essentially a god of peace) and Mimir, the death of Brok (yes Odin is responsible for stabbing Brok), and probably more. He is not a good person and we have been told of his cruelty for 2 whole games.

If I were to have watched the game as a movie, I would have enjoyed the story more and found it easier to follow.
My problem is the way I tacked the quests. I did some main, some side, then went off exploring for treasure, then came back to main etc.
It's MY fault the story didn't flow better lol.
The newer GoW games are better than the old skool versions in my opinion. The combat is vastly superior, but if you want that classic GoW experience, focus on the path of the blades in the Valhalla expansion and don't look back.

Did you never play classic GOW? If you genuinely believe the new games have vastly superior combat then there’s no way you did. The new games lack impact as the brutality is basically gone.

Yes I've played and mastered every GoW game except Betrayal, if that counts lol. I enjoy the complexity of the combat in the newer games, took me way longer to master and felt more rewarding when I did.
One thing I will say, the newer games have far less blood/gore which is a shame considering the franchises roots.

I played the OG GoW and still do sometimes, and Objectively speaking, the new GoW games are vastly better in terms of combat.

Agreed Ragnarok was a boring slog, 1-3 are way more fun and exciting.

Odin was manipulative, not physically violent. He single-handedly turned Thor into the drunken brute he was, then outright killed him when he finally rose up and said no.

Well, for starters Odin is portrayed as a manipulative bastard who kills his own son.

Not sure in what universe that is the writing portraying him as a "good guy".

Another example, he clearly threatens that dwarf's life - and Atreus' - during his conversation with Kratos after Kratos gets Draupnir. If Odin doesn't return soon, Kratos' son will be killed in his absence.

In the very opening scene, he tries to get Thor to revert to fall off the wagon by claiming he's "no fun anymore" when Thor is trying to quit drinking and then goes on to call the two sons that Thor lost - his own grandsons - as "worthless". Baldur only had "value" because he was a good tracker/closer, and therefore it didn't matter that his mind was gone. (Something that Odin never makes any effort to help his OTHER son with.)

A bad guy not literally twirling his mustache and cackling evilly every moment he is on screen does not a "good guy" make.

compared to literally every other character kratos deals with in the norse games besides mimir and the dwarves odin is a good guy
