Sequel Syndrome?
I had the original God of War on the PS4 and it was one of my most favourite games of all time. I never got round to playing Ragnarok and in the end, just decided to wait for the PC release instead. However the sequel didn't seem to be as well received as the 2018 version and I was wondering any of you that has played it as to why many feel this way?

There are a few games that have sequel syndrome where they are more of the same but aren't as impactful - Forbidden West and The Division 2 are a couple from recent memory that didn't do much wrong but just felt a little off compared to their predecessors and also didn't take any significant steps forward.

Not sure why this game wasn't as well received especially from people who enjoyed the original as much as I did but any of you shed some light on any issues that may cause people to feel this way? Cheers!

I think most of it really comes down to the story and the pacing. The story in Ragnarok didn't feel as compelling as GoW18. The pacing does not help the story much either due to certain sections that really drag down the experience as well and while I won't post spoilers, the ending does feel rushed even if the ending itself is really satisfying. The combat and gameplay improvements are all fantastic and are better than GoW18, but the story just wan't up to the standard set by the first game.
I loved the first one and kinda disliked Ragnarök. One of the reasons was that it is indeed just more of the same. It also dragged on a bit and I hated a couple of story points.

It's still a good game. Just not as good as God of War 2018.

P.S: I hated Forbidden West. Felt like Horizon: Ubisoft Edition to me.
Cheers guys! I also heard that Artreus somewhat kills the the experience by persistently providing clues to puzzles whilst you are trying to solve yourself. If this is true, can you turn off these dialogue 'hints'?
Yeah this one didn't capture my attention as much as 2018 GoW did. There's also some dumb boring irrelevant side missions you have to suffer through for no reason whatsoever.
