Does the PSN requirement = always-online requirement?
It's a single-player game. But, if you must connect your Steam account and login to a PSN account, does the game require a persistent internet connection to play?

I ask because the PlayStation Network has had some connectivity issues over the past several days, which suggests that PC players who buy Sony's single-player titles may be unable to enjoy their purchases when they are similarly affected by Sony's inconsistent network.

You'll more than likely be able to play offline until one of a dozen things causes the token to expire and you have to ask permission online again to play what you've already paid for. It might not be *always* online, but there's definitely a server dependency there.

It's pretty much DRM, but it may not be explicitly "always-online DRM", I know for a fact some Xbox games like Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 require account connections but otherwise allow you to play offline.

I don't think so.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

You'll be able to play it offline sometimes but only for as long as Sony allows it and you never reinstall the game and your PC never crashes. This is why we shouldn't have it in the first place, it just adds an expiration date to the game.

Yeah...that was my suspicion.

If some people manage to figure out a way to bypass the PSN fascist demand, then I will play this game legally. If not, I will play the game THROUGH THE HIGH SEAS.

I LOVED the previous God of War, and would happily buy this Day One if I could reliably play it offline. I have several LOOOOONG flights coming up soon, and this game on my Steamdeck would make those trips so much more tolerable. I’m really hoping Sony isn’t as stupid as our worst fears.

Sony had such a super positive entry into the PC space and now theyre screwing it up requiring PSN accounts which essentially makes them always-only games in SINGLEPLAYER games of all games....

Seems like no one here has a definitive answer yet.

I know Rockstar's games require internet connection every 5 days in order to continue playing the game (tested it myself by changing the date/time of my system).

I might just bite the bullet and buy Ragnarok to test if we're able to play this game offline for indefinitely. If it requires internet connection then I will just refund it.

Oh ♥♥♥♥. Well, glad it didn't buy it then.

Guess this one is not going on gog then. Whatever, if Sony doesn't want my money, then so be it.

There is a mod that removes it though

Sure, but why would i give money to a company when they require something i strongly disagree with? I'd rather pass Ragnarok and play something that doesn't ask me to make another useless account
